Make it at home or when buying look for close packing date of manufacture to get maximum beneficial bacteria. She adds,"always keep it cold,as the helpful bacteria in yogurt cannot withstand high temperatures.

yoghurt is not curd. curd is more beneficial to humans. yoghurt is only second best. I am told that buttermilk is available even in some areas of USA - i don't know. buttermilk is also as good, or even better than curd.

Yogurt, though, results from milk fermentation---converting a substance into acid under anaerobic conditions---whereas curdling, or coagulation, is when milk sours or is treated with either enzymes or edible acids like lemon juice. Lactose, the sugar in milk, becomes lactic acid when it ferments. Lactic acid gives yogurt its distinct tangy flavor. Yogurt's health benefits enhance its popularity. Curd makers often employ the enzyme rennet, other bacteria or the acid vinegar."

Buttermilk is more beneficial than curd or yogurt. There is a saying ' mOraip perrikki,
neerai churrkki '. It contains lot of enzymes.
