Article about You’re Too Focused on What You’re Focused On

In short, we pay too much attention to what we’re paying attention to.

Highlights (what I think are highlights)

Assuming other people are focused on the same thing we are is at the
root of many kinds of miscommunication

We all have a tendency to egocentrically ascribe our own perspective
to others. That doesn’t make us selfish or bad. But it’s worth keeping
in mind that everyone’s attention illuminates the world in a
particular way, and what gets spotlighted differs from person to
person.

I do realize the tenet of the article applies to this thread too - I think it is an interesting article. If others feel different, I respect their views. Similarly what I think are highlights of the article may not be highlights to others. Again I respect others view(s)

True ..it might hold good in the west where people tend to not pry too much into lives of others.

But out here where I live..even if I hadnt washed my car for 2 weeks someone hardly known to me would ask" why hasnt your car been washed"

Believe me people in Asia focus more on others but fail to focus on themselves.

You can never escape even if you had just 1 hour less sleep..someone would ask you why you look tired.

People even ask you at weddings why you wore the same saree twice.

An Asian study needs to be conducted.
Westerners tend to be a tad more polite and refined and seldom get too personal.

There is a joke on this, like how to mind some one's own business... got on whatsapp some time back

"I was walking past the mental hospital the other day and all the patients were shouting, '13....13.....13.'

The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks.

I looked through to see what was going on.....

Some bastard poked me in the eye with a stick!

Then they all started shouting '14.....14....14....
