[h=1]You will soon be able to play Playstation games on your Samsung TV, while not owning a Playstation[/h] December 24, 2014 Kishore Ganesh
We are seeing an industry-wide shift to the Cloud, and this includes Gaming, with many game-streaming Services such as Gaikai emerging. These Services enable you to play high-quality Games on low-end PCs through a high-speed Internet Connection.
Sony too announced a game-streaming Service for playing Playstation Games on your TV or Phone. The problem was that the implementation was limited to Sony Bravia TVs.
Now, Sony seems to be opening up its implementation, as it has made the Game-Streaming Service now available to Samsung Smart TVs.
Owners of these TVs may be able to stream from a selection of over 200 PS3 Games to start with. The Playstation Now Service on Samsung TVs will have all the components of a PS3 Gaming Experience, such as Awards, Multiplayer, etc.
Samsung Smart TVs will gain access to the PS Now Service in the first half of 2015. We think that it is great that Sony is opening up its Services. Sony isn’t the leader in the TV Market, and so it makes sense for it to offer its Services on Samsung, which is leading the Consumer TV Market.
In this way, Sony is able to make some money benefiting from Samsung’s large Audience, and Samsung’s TVs finally get something useful. A win-win
