[h=1]காயத்ரி மந்திரத்தை தவறாகச் சித்தரிக்கிறதா பிச்சைக்காரன் பாடல்? [/h]

The lyrics version shown in http://www.paatuvarigal.com/2015/12/glamour-lyrics-from-pichaikkaran.html does not show anything about Gaayatree.

Does Gayathri Manta relate only to Bs and not the entire Hindu community?

Does Gayathri Manta relate only to Bs and not the entire Hindu community?

All the hindu scriptures are open only to Brahmanas, Kshatriyas and Vaisyas who alone are eligible for upanayanam. The sudras are prohibited from any access to those scriptures as per our Dharmasastras.

Using " Gayatri Manthram" for begging has been objected by a Brahmin.

It is not evidenced that any adversary comments have been made about " Gayatri Manthram" .

In this context the objection made is to exhibit the existence of அகில பாரத பிராமணர் சங்கத்தினர் , a new outfit.

In Kanchi Periva Forum there is this one story about how Kanchi Periva handled a situation where a Non Dwija wanted to know if he could recite the Gayatri mantra

Read this..very smart answer to escape on technical grounds! But I wonder what the answer would have been if the person had all boys!

Taken from Kanchi Periva Forum.

Once a vellalar (farmer) devotee asked Periava, "Can I chant the Gayatri Mantra?"

A question that creates dharma sankatam (embarrassment to do what is right)! Either of the two replies yes or no is bound to bring up criticism.

Sri Matham's work is to foster and preserve the Sanatana dharmas. The confrontations that Bharat had in the last thousand years are numerous. The Bharata samudaya (public) has always had the skills to preserve its roots, withstanding the attacks, bending like reeds when a hurricane blows and then raising its head once again after storm passes.

But then should Sri MaTham intervene in every change? What is its share? Today's thinking becomes obsolete tomorrow and cast away. Though no one can control the gush of floods after it broke the dam, a day has to come when the floods will recede and the flow is streamlined in the river?

Nobody has any knowledge if Periyava had such thoughts. But he had the unique ability to ease a delicate situation and leave it to its natural course.

Peiyavaa did not give a direct reply to the devotee. "How many children you have?" he asked.

A surprising reply came from him. "By your grace I have been bestowed with three girls: one five years old, another three and the last six months..."

Periyava said: "Name one girl as Gayatri, another as Sandhya and the third as Savitri. Call the three girls by those names. Not as Baby--Lily--Billy!

"If you thus repeatedly say the names Gayatri--Sandhya--Savitri, you would get the punyA (fruits) of Gayatri Mantra chanting."

The devotees face displayed his happiness. Periyava had given him his anugraha of clarity of thought, when he was hesitating to take up an act that was against the sampradAya (tradition).

He went happily, receiving prasadam from Periyava.

Thank you Smt. Renuka. I was stating, in my post, the position per our Dharmasastras which incidentally deny the mantras even to the women of the dwija castes. Ours was a pure male-dominated social set-up, you see!

hi renu,

we never follow dharma sastra/periava fully.....just conveniences/ excuses.....whichever is comfort for selfish....we take

dharma sastra/periava words AS PRAMAANA....NA TU PRAMEYA.....

Very easy, Renu!

If married, his wife's name will be Gayatri Sandhya Savitri!

If unmarried, his mom / sister will be named so!

Dear Sangom ji,

Actually I prefer hard hitting truth however unpalatable it is.

That is why I was quite surprised to read this post in the Kanchi Periva Forum.

I dont get it too..if a Non Dwija is not supposed to recite the Gayatri..then just tell him the truth instead of making him call out Gayatri,Sandhya,Savitri to get an "indirect" benefit that he is not even supposed to benefit actually.

Knowing the truth is better than getting a sugar coated version of untruth.

The Kanchi Acharya was also a public figure, much like today's politicians. Earlier he had made an attempt to convene a meeting of all Sanyasis from all over undivided India in order to block (oppose) the Sarada Act and the Hindu Code Bill, mainly to stop marriage of very young girls becoming unlawful, but failed in his attempt because there was only lukewarm support from the Sanyasi tribe plus his most powerful Zamindar supporters from TN also were not enthusiastic.

Having learnt a bitter lesson he would naturally have tried to play the proverbial "paalukkum kaaval, poonaikkum Thozhan" role!

Dharma Sastras are just code of conduct for the society.

There are similar dharmasastras by other names in every faith of the world. This is not to justify the dharmasastras or what is said there in them. As they are code of conduct, they reflect the ambience/society that existed at the time of their compilation. They are not scriptures in the same sense as Vedas. The sastras are just man made unlike the vedas. So they are fallible. Depending on one's situation one can give up what is said in dharmasastras as long as it is not for an adharmic purpose.

There is another dharma sastra belonging to another major religion of the world which has a clause which says " A man has the birth right to beat his wife black and blue if she refuses to come to bed when he demands and while beating he should spare her faces alone." Howzatt?
