It is not my contention that children do not support parents.

I only said that parents do not like to approach children for support..

With all the assets and deposits of senior citizen, the free economy and high costs has made 50 % population including senior citizen depend on some subsidy or other.

Thats the crass reality.

We want subsidised power , water which are expensive because of bad management.

We want subsidised food due to high costs of supporting leakages in food distribution, hoarding besides unrealistic cost of grains based on high input costs of fertilisers for

farming besides MSP based on arbitrary fixing of rates.

We have a skewed economy with brahmins also facing the misery of bad living.We are a neglected constituency. Our satvik law abiding nature is the cause of many

miseries.So why not admit the truth and ask for what one does not have as a matter of right and entitlement

You are free to admit the fact and ask for whatever you want.

You are suffering in a polluted gas chamber and longing to breath with a fresh clean air.

You cannot drive your own car everyday in and around the city you love more than anything else.

You cannot swim and take a dip at Yamuna river which was pollution beyond ......

So ask for what you do not have and try to get these through approaching your C.M. Hon'ble A.Kerjrawal Ji. lol

I have a ration card and eligible to buy 5Kg of sugar at the subsidised price I buy it every month though we donpt need any sugar - we are diabetic and donot consume Sugar as such I go to the ration shop by Car to buy that after confirming that it is available and no crowd at the shop with the sales man on cell. I store this sugar and my D in Law takes it Madras whenever she visits Madurai! If I donot buy the eligible sugar I am sure it will be diverted to some one encouraging corrution!

I buy my Indane again with eligible subsidy

I tarvel in 2AC as senior Citizen again on eligible Subsidy -

I would like to know if anyone in this TB forum has voulntarily foregone them!

Leave alone the freebies offered by the Government to woo voters to catch the power centre, how about these affluent community of Doctors availing freebies offered by the Pharmacy Companies during the process of their unethical practice of marketing, like sponsoring cruise tickets for an exotic location abroad?

This has been happening and everyone knew. And nothing has been done.

We discuss vehemently and argue with force, but nothing tangle takes place.

And we salute eachother for no achievement.

Our rastrapathi has a nice mughal garden which opens to visitors in feb.


Life could not be better than this.

Visit new dispensaries opened by kejriwal in delhi where for a pittance you can get all tests done besides get consultancy from best doctors.

Delhi is not heavan but close to it if compared with many metros

You are a blessed soul to enjoy the benefits of good life in Delhi. Being the national Capital Delhi citizens enjoy unique position of higly subsidized life. It has all the benefits of Union Territory and elected State Legislature. For instance while the Price of Petrol in Delhi is Rs.59.35/Lit in Bangalore it is Rs. 62.71/Lit. Kejriwal of AAP is the right person to rule Delhi. By one stroke AAP Government reduced the traffic of Cars by half.

I am going to Madras on 2nd and be back on 7th This is before Budget I am planning a trip to Delhi - Vaishnavo Devi - Delhi - Jaipur - Bikaner - Delhi- Khajurao - Delhi and back -- To Delhi and return is by flight may work out cheaper and time saving! Delhi to Khajuro and back is by air is ideal No trains I think! - But Delhi Katara Jaipur Bikaner I think Train is fine - Hope for a favourable budget with no cuts in subsidy ! This will be in April after Budget!

Not many parents would like to approach their children who are earning well for support. It demeans them .

They feel they should live on their pensions and govt support.

They have worked for a lifetime in govt and private sector.

Why should the govt not give them good pensions and provide decent social security?

A callous govt is foolishly cutting back on subsidies from the lower middle class and senior citizens who are vulnerable sectons.

Brahmins have high self respect.It can be misinterpreted as false prestige.

Maids are normally sent to collect rations and freebies.I see nothing wrong in that.

The concept of entitlements on caste lines and reservations is leaving brahmins in the cold to suffer silently,

Why suffer if one can get around it ?

There is income declaration at the time of applying for ration card. Some people suppress there real income and get green card ( the colour of ration card in Tamilnadu for freebies).

I hope the lower middle class are eligible to get it; Senior citizens of lower income / pension group also eligible to get it.

But Upper middle class /affluent senior citizens who are often boast of their travel only by air and stay in 4/5 star hotels, need not stoop to the level of running after the freebies and subsidised food.

Air travel by budget airlines for long distances booked well in advance instead of train in india is better economics.

The time saved in addition makes it attractive . One can try trains with senior citizen concession for overnight journey as it is very cheap . It is just 1re a km . Cheaper than bus.

If one is a senior citizen, all they can call income is only pension and some deposits.

There are higher priorities for using that money like medical bills for which many do not have coverage for outdoor treatment.

Ration subsidies are a must for all senior citizens.

State needs to ensure it and leave it to senior citizen to use it or not.

A penny saved is a penny earned.

This is simply good money management

Nice comment VBji..As you said, it is only politics of caste reservations and entitlements every where..but if you scrutinize reservation, Dr. Ambedkar introduced the idea only for SC/ST and not as a birth right..But today, even Kshatriyas have started claiming reservation with no end date..This means it is becoming birthright..A reservation policy based on Varnas only will help to save our dharma and also the future generation..Otherwise we will be fooled..Similarly, to curb entitlements, we need to abolish the black money,atleast what we have within the country..

Brahmins have high self respect as long as they behave like brahmins; if they start loitering around Non Veg. hotels and Brandy shops etc, ... they not only lose prestige of their own but also put the prestige of the whole Brahmin community at stake.
You may also agree that Brahmanism does not come by mere birth!

If we have any short fall then what we claim is only false prestige.

For katra,jaipur train is fine. But bikaner is not worth going . Instead opt for jaisalmer and take a flight from jaipur. Sand dunes there are enchanting.Also do visit

ajmer dargah and pushkar also if you are going to jaipur.In katra there are the last mile issues for vaishnao devi temple. You may have to ride an animal or opt for

helicopter from katra to avoid the pain.Train to khajuraho is painful . One has to go to jhansi and change for a connection.it is best to to fly. But wait for dance festival

there if possible.

Also avoid hotel stay in delhi if possible.State tourism hotels are good in rajasthan.But by now you must be a seasoned travellor.Bold enough to know what to do in

crisis situations.

We have brahmin tag due to accident of birth and whatever different behaviour besides sporting caste marks or poonool is a legacy our parents have left us.

The places we frequent or the food preferances are what we have added to cope with the brahmin tag which is an albatross around our necks.

I f we have some notions of prestige and self respect , It is because of our education which is a priority for brahmins. If brahmins feel hurt when other brahmins by

birth do not conform to their beliefs or food preferances, they probably have to put up with it.

We had the concept of jathi brashtam earlier when some were made to pay for violating community rules.

When community itself is dwindling, brahmins as a community may become extinct.We may end up being inter mixed and give rise to a new brahmin community.

In matrimonial forums -they are called Other brahmins.ie that they are inter mixed brahmins-one parent brahmin.

Whatever is happening to our brahmin society, it is for good. It was the same story, within our community too that the haves over ruled the have nots and ate the fruits of lower rung people and others. Now, everyone agrees that brahmins are dwindling and willing to reach out to inter religious and inter caste communities. This was the result of the curse of the poor brahmins who were exploited by the well to do brahmins. The wheel of fortune for the haves had come a full circle. Except a few who even after having all the wealth of the world, were generous, that they survive today. Others have become sand and ashes, not even into history. The have nots have become the haves and are liberal and are ruling.

Instead of just preaching in this Forum, why not this member emulate himself as an example and teach our M.Ps who attend Parliament, incidentally most of whom are also senior citizen, for restoration of subsidized food in Parliament canteen.
