Dear Sir,
I fervently share with your views. As you suggested that good habits should be inculcated sex education in the minds of both young boys and girls at school level to create an awareness so that they could not arrive at a conclusion that sex should be an unwarranted/ untouchable item in life but should be taught as a source to maintain good physique in times of need after marriage and not before that , so that it would pave way for a healthy society. I don't know whether I am right or wrong but this natural urge should have an authentic and authoritative direction from one's mind in the form self control & discipline and none should be swim against nature.
Sri Dhikshita
I live in USA for almost four decades. I came here as a student at a time when so called sexual revolution was beginning to tone down.
In the hostels of IIT Kanpur back in mid 70s someone had acquired a set of porn pictures from the west. We did not even know the word Porn but many of us lined up to view this.
When I came to USA shortly after my friend and I who went to NY city was shocked to say the least the exhibits of porn material. The city has a far cleaner look now. While my friend and I were sort of scandalized and very judgmental of the 'degeneration of society' at large it did not stop us from sampling the material to the point we got bored! The fascination of this was gone.
Later when I found out about how there is a lot of exploitation in the industry too create new material I was completely repulsed at the thought of someone forced into this.
In my student days I did come across an American girl student who claimed she was doing part time porn to pay for college and she chose to be here and said all those who are judgmental of others are narrow minded.
My point relating all this is to say that it is by and large an exploitative industry like those of carpets that is sustained by forced child labor in India and elsewhere.
Exposure to porn is unavoidable because there are ways by which the information can reach even in highly policed states. All one will do is to create new classes of criminals and encourage more corruption.
Many children including my own have no fascination and are repulsed by the exploitation of the industry. In other-words all they can think of porn is exploitation of young men and women. Lives of male porn actors are also pathetic requiring to perform in inhumane conditions on demand.
Rather than judging others or banning such material best approach is inoculation (vaccination) against such material through teaching that is based on reason about Dharmic values in one's life.
When my son at age of 13 discovered online porn and argued about free speech I asked him to make one commitment before browsing any of the content online. He agreed and asked my condition. I told him "you cannot watch alone and anytime you feel like you are curious you and I will watch together'" . I told him I will help him find what he wants and insisted on one session. The whole experience was such a turn off for him that he said I spoiled the image about this and whenever his friends talked about any porn all he could imagine was me sitting next to him scientifically explaining what is going on LoL
The criminal act of rape etc is not caused by this and those that are purporting such views are not well informed in my view
