Railways hikes fare for children from 5 to 12 years

As per the revised rules, full adult fare will be charged for children between 5 and 12 years of age if a berth/seat is sought for them in the reserved class.

Senior Citizen escaped for now

I remember when I came to Madurai TVS was operating Southern Roadways and 1/2 Tickets were available in city Bus as well But when Government took over this was withdrawn !!

Half ticket was there in pallavan buses also ! It was withdrawn several years back!

Arai ticket used to be a common term used in derogatory sense for those who are less smart (loosu type)!

When you are withdrawing all benefits to a minor, restore to them all other benefits like Income tax etc. too

All fun is being taken out of train travel by imposing extra burden for minors.

All children like to have berths for themselves.

Charging full fare for kids is utterly insensitive.

Travel by railways will cease to be a pleasure if such conditions are imposed on families.

Instead they can cut MPs free quota and charge them full .

Many of them have crores in wealth.

They can contribute to national exchequer.

I fully agree with Krish Sir. Railways have so many concession to MPs MLAs employees etc Let them reduce these first.

Just imagine two children in the 5/12 age group sharing space in 3 tier A/C with their parents in long distance trains.

It will be nuisance for other co-passengers in the space constrained berths.

The problem is not minor or senior; population implores all to be accommodative. More trains will only grind out the rails. And? Relaying of rails? When?
