QUOTE=tbs;263945]hi

may be aam aadmi will come back with brooms...becoz broom is their symbol...lol[/QUOTE]

It is learnt that people of harijan basti were locked in their flats during Modi visit.

The ashoka leaves were deliberately thrown there for Modi to clean.

it might end up as mere tokenism .

People are waiting for better govt performance,

they have nothing much to show so far.

Yes, indeed. It is only speech speech sermons etc. etc. and not any work seems to be emanating from the government. Nothing concrete has been done by Modi yet.

Please give me an example of what you consider "work". Preferably something that has been publicly performed by let's say the previous Cong govt.

Visible:
Govt servants are attending office on time.
Tamilnadu officials said the their papers were cleared in two days in one visit that normally take months and several visits
Petrol prices have dropped by nearly Rs. 5 in the last 4 months.
Every ministry is giving a press conference once a month, but journalists are not interested. Ministry's web site is supposed to be more current. Even in USA press conference when a journalist asked for a list, he was told that details are in the web site.
Because we are used to ministers making grand statements and the media giving it 24 hour publicity, we have become blind to realities unless it is thrust on our faces.
The media is not getting any scoops or leaks as all holes are plugged.

Sarover dam has been overflowing for 20 days; if only UPA had not been sitting on permission to raise dam height, huge amount of water would have been saved to supply dry areas of rajastan and kutch.
Permission to raise the height was given on the next day of govt formation; and the work will be completed in three years - one gate every 3 months. Close to 5 crore bank accounts in jandhan scheme, and average deposit per account holder Rs. 800.

Concrete set of items and very good summary.

What has govt got to do with petrol prices . Brent crude is 92$ against !10 $ two months back. ?

Did it go down fearing Modi?

Govt officials compensated by taking off whenever Modi goes of on foreign jaunts. which is too often.

He can let Sushma swaraj do her job or release her from the cabinet . we do not require two in foreign affairs, this is gross waste of resources.

as it is we are paying bills of a minister who is more in hospital than office .

two major ministries are on stand still with no head.

TN officials might have got some attention as BJP is targetting that state for future gains

jandhan scheme is a social justice measure. ask Raghuram rajan about its effect on the govt finances. and deficits.

who will pay for the dam raise in gujarat ? only the poor states being deprived of much needed funds .

we require better economists to run the govt .and a minister who goes to office.

Ypu are welcome to live in your loka; some learn and realize what is good for them and move on.

Raghu raman must answer or ask banks on unpaid loans and assets. First he must worry about the banks under him. Unpaid loans, loans issued to bogus companies and trusts, writing off without due effort in reducing losses. If rajan produces a white paper on bank loan money down the drain, he will be doing yeoman service to indian economy and banking.

RBI Guv Raghuram Rajan softens stance on Jan Dhan Yojana, says it is a welcome scheme

It is the job of raghuram rajan to execute the scheme properly and he is doing it.

PTI | Mumbai | Updated: Sep 30 2014, 15:16 IST

"We welcome the Jan Dhan Yojana, it is part of RBI's plan to get universal access," he told a press conference called for announcing bi-monthly monetary policy.

The RBI governor had earlier cautioned the banks on the risks involved in just hunting for numbers, asking them not to compromise on core objectives of the programme.

However, today Rajan said he wanted a proper inclusion of unbanked households into the banking system.
"What I am more concerned about is that we actually achieve proper inclusion by bringing in households that were not reached in past... We are working with the government to try and make this dream a possibility," Rajan said.

So far, over 5.1 crore accounts have been opened and Rs 3,600 crore deposited in banks.
Under the financial inclusion scheme, each Jan Dhan account comes with Rs 5,000 overdraft facility, a Rs 1 lakh accident cover, and a RuPay debit card.

Rajan said the Payments bank and Small banks for which RBI is in the process of finalising guidelines, will help in promoting financial inclusion.
The Jan Dhan accounts will be linked to the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme, he said, adding, "let us keep the broader aim in mind and work towards achieving universal access".

Raghuram Rajan wants to retain his job . The above statement might help him.

He has kept quiet on the negative fall out of such populist schemes.

Political considerations ride over financial wisdom.

The RBI governor I admire is Mr Y V REDDY .

He saved the indian banking system with his harsh stance by refusing to yield when there was pressure on him to liberalise and open out the banking system with tight

money policy , no liberalisation and refusing demands for dilution of public sector banks to higher private participation and turning down demands for higher liquidity to

industry and lower interest rates. it is said that indian banking suffered the least damage in 2008 melt down mostly due to his actions .

HE became unpopular with the govt in power who did not use his services after his retirement

You have misunderstood the system. There is no subsidy as was proposed by sonia-mms-chidambaram, which would have made the country insolvent. He gets a life insurance cover, a ceiling on borrowing linked to his credit rating and repay history and this will stop him from approaching village 'savkars' money lenders who literally bleed him with high interest rates. You have missed the amount deposited by the new account holders, which is a sort of safe savings.

As it is , public sector banks are unable to service normal clients . if crores of poor people are simply added to them, will the banking syatem absorb it .

poor service coupled with low interest rates for deposits will make middle class run away from public sector banking system

as it is , gold and property are becoming unviable investment avenues , share market is showing unusual movements not backed by fundamentals

if a bad banking system gets added to it , people have to store their money in pots and bury them for future use instead of saving or investing.lol

[h=1]‘We do not need lessons on cleanliness'[/h]SOWMIYA ASHOK

attachment.php

It’s mid-afternoon on Friday in Valmiki Sadan, the day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi set foot in this colony of safai karamcharis to launch his Swachh India Mission, and a man is comfortably seated on a charpoy assembling a large broom.
A few days ago, the building behind him received a fresh coat of white paint with each of the doors and windows outlined in red. On October 2, many in this building were locked inside their homes, a large cloth thrown over the façade, and security personnel had taken over the roofs. All in anticipation of Mr. Modi’s visit.
Kishanpal Cheena Maharaj and his friends sit on plastic chairs near one of the many entrances to the large park that falls in between the colony and the 150-year-old Valmiki Mandir. One of his companions, Ranjit Singh Gangaherey, says the New Delhi Municipal Council was quick to remove all the flower pots that were neatly arranged as soon as Thursday morning’s function concluded.
“For the first time, the civic body put in extra effort to spruce up this neighbourhood. Grass grew here overnight. I suspect they used Fevicol,” laughs this 65-year-old, who was formerly a municipal worker. “Now, no one will come to water the grounds since we don’t even have a hydrant here.”
Mr. Maharaj interrupts him to ask why couldn’t at least one of the nine celebrities selected by Mr. Modi to take forward the Swachh Bharat Mission be from the Valmiki community. “At the end of the day, thenetas are just posing with the brooms. If a drain gets clogged we will be the ones who will physically clean up the mess,” he says.
The residents of this area, which once played host to Mahatma Gandhi himself, felt slighted by events on Gandhi Jayanti. “We all keep our homes and surroundings clean so we do not need a lesson on cleanliness,” remarks Sarita Beniwal, who was returning from a trip to the local market.
Many pointed to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s workers who were doing the rounds in the neighbourhood for weeks in preparation for the big day but never once engaged the local community. “Instead of allowing the residents of this area to meet and greet Mr. Modi, they lined up school children from other parts of the city to greet him and we were shunted to the periphery,” says a resident. “They kept telling us that it is not a party function but a government function. Yet, we noticed the Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay accompanying Mr. Modi.”

I, most definitely, would be extremely inquisitive to perceive to what extent this exertion endures especially by the authorities/government officials.
History has repeatedly demonstrated that it is personal temperament to get dragged in these clichés.
