Agni Nakshathira Dosham

Every year Agni nakshathiram begins when Sun enters Bharani star 3rd quarter and leaves when entering Rohini 2nd quarter. Why should we call this period as dosham period, when so many auspicious functionsare celebrated. Even our NVS swamin has mentioned in his Panchangam that so many subha karyams could be celebrated.

The problem is that many items are suffixed with the word "Dosham" rather routinely and then people are confused. It is actually only "agni nakshatraM" or, at best, "agni nakshatra kAlam". Krittika star is supposed to be ruled by the deva agni. अग्निर्नः पातु कृत्तिका, commences the nakshatra sooktam. It was/is believed that the sun will produce unusual amount of heat during the 13 and odd days during which it will traverse the sky with the krittika star group in its background. People are supposed to take possible precautions to ward-off/tackle troubles arising from exposure to an unusually hot sun. Probably today, we may ask our youngsters not to play cricket in the scorching noon during this period; people susceptible/suffering from skin cancer can be more careful, etc., that is all what is needed. It is not a dosham.

Sri Sangom

I have a question about a Dosha which might have been a recently introduced item in the last 100 years.

I am not into Astrology and have no knowledge.

It is called Kaala Sarpa Dosha - it seems people all over the world born in certain days may have this.
The name itself is scary and apparently this dosha may not have proper basis in Vedic Astorlogy from what someone told me.

Yet there are many astrologers that prescribe all kinds of Pariharams for such a Dosha.

I heard that there are many famous personalities that have this Dosha and it is hard to see if they suffered.

I am interested in your views on this Dosha.

If a girl or boy has this (I heard someone has this) will they have a tough time to get married

Thanks
tks

Shri tks,

Shri Narasimhan had posed the very same point and my views may be found here.

The period of agni nakshatra kaalam is accepted as a period of extreme heat. The dosham may be the extreme radiation. Yes when Sun enters Bharani constellation the period starts. For those who do not consult Panchaangam, the period starts about 4th of May every year and ends about 28th of May.
