AI will make brain buffering for words

Just had a fascinating lunch with a 22-year-old Stanford grad. Smart kid. Perfect resume. Something felt off though.

He kept pausing mid-sentence, searching for words. Not complex words - basic ones. Like his brain was buffering.

Finally asked if he was okay. His response floored me.

"Sometimes I forget words now. I'm so used to having ChatGPT complete my thoughts that when it's not there, my brain feels... slower."

He'd been using AI for everything. Writing, thinking, communication. It had become his external brain. And now his internal one was getting weaker.

Made me think about calculators. Remember how teachers said we needed to learn math because "you won't always have a calculator"? They were wrong about that.

But maybe they were right about something deeper.

We're running the first large-scale experiment on human cognition. What happens when an entire generation outsources their thinking?

Don?t get me wrong, I?m beyond excited about what AI and AI agents will do for people in the same way that I was excited in 2009 when the App Store was launched.

But thinking out loud you got to think this guy I met with isn't the onnnnnly one that's going to be completely dependent on AI.

It does make one ponder the deep-dive into humanity's quest for "true"& "intelligent" progress, doesn't it?

George Knapp, a ufology veteran of over thirty years, through his extensive investigations posited after speaking to John Lear (03.12.42-29.03.22), an American aviator and UFO conspiracy theorist, that the inexplainable extraterrestrial encounters of the past & present might actually be with humans from the future instead of beings from other planets, galaxies, etc.

John Lear described the humans from the future as advanced beings who possess technology far beyond our current capabilities. These future humans are said to have grey skin, large heads, and large, black eyes. They might also have reduced or absent external body parts such as noses and ears, giving them an appearance that is often mistaken for extraterrestrial.

Sound familiar, "large heads" = too much thinking/information overload & minimized locomotion implements?

Thank you for reading.

Few decades ago even and certainly few hundred years ago there were people who had memorized the entire Veda of more than one of four. Many could recite Ramayana and Mahabharata ( which has over 100000 verses)

Same was true in Greece where people memorized Iliad etc. Even today I have come across Sanskrit scholars that know by- heart about several thousand Panini Sutras and can tell the etymology of a word using these sutras. Sometimes there may twenty plus steps to derive the word and reveal the exact meaning embedded in the word. This is the beauty of Sanskrit. It is the only language with advanced expressions to be able to have full knowledge representation needed by today’s AI. This was recognized at NASA for decades.

The grammar of html etc is already there in the way Psnini sutras are constructed.

This human capacity has been weakening not because of advances in Sciences or advances in the application of technology. Every faculty of human beings is getting dumbed down.

A car driver drives a person from one point to another point right next to the door of the destination even through narrow streets. The number of knee surgeries is exploding worldwide

Science at its purest pursuit is in alignment with philosophy with both seeking unification. Technology and AI demonstrate power of human intellect.

Root issue is that people are weak minded and want to enjoy. Many have not studied Gita and Upanishad properly using the teachings of Sankara and yet ready to speak about Sri Sankara as if he is his brother in law. They want to opine and make things up. It is all corruption arising from Tamasic nature.

Why not try to learn time tested teachings first ?

It is ignorance and so called Tamasic nature that prevents applying oneself and leverage technology wisely. It is thus laziness that prevents wise use of advances.

The progress in pure sciences in the area of space, Time and relative reality have shown it is coming in alignment with wisdom of universal teachings found in texts like Gita and Upanishad. When Swami Vivekananda went to America his teachings could not be supported by science of that day which got discovered after his time. But true scientists and technologists like Tesla listened to this young Swami. They had open mind

The ChatGPT and AI is a blessing or curse depending on the wisdom of the user. Blaming these advances is not wise. These advances cannot be stopped. So getting wise and learning to correctly use them is the challenge of the day

Otherwise we will have generations of fools blaming and feeling inadequate. That has already started in the last century and continuing
