no matter what, the modern akshaya, i feel, is a product of successful marketing by the gold industry.

the modern akshaya, i think, is a reflection of the new wealth being generated in the country. i have no problem with it. only that it is yet another commercial vehicle for people to spend their money (hopefully nobody goes into debt due to the 'savings' offered during the akshaya season).
