Hello sirs,
I'm smartha Brahmin from Tiruvarur district. Recently, lost my father 1 year back. As long as he was alive, he was an ardent follower of sampradaya. Now, I have started doing Amavasya Tharpanam. I have seen my father doing Tharpanam without wearing Vibhuthi. After finishing Tharpanam, he did wear Vibhuthi. I'm following the same custom. However, one of my Brahmin colleagues told me that we should wear Vibhuthi while doing Tharpanam. Only for Abhara rituals, we do without wearing it, he said. I'm confused.
Please clarify, if anyone does know the actual rule.
