you heard it here first folks..the hardy workhorse of indian roads, the amby is considered by the venerable BBC the best taxi in the world.

and here is the authentic report, not from BBC but from CNN which ranks it only #4 in the world.

:) enjoy.

worlds-best-taxis

though, i shudder at the thought of taking an amby whenever i arrive in chennai, after a looooong flight. junky. mosquito infested. and cranky to boot.

All said and done, Ambassador is doubtless THE BEST TAXI IN THE UNIVERSE. Nowadays we dont find much of Amby Taxis on Indian Roads. We are missing Amby a lot.

White Ambassador is the symbol of Government owned vehicles in India for about 50 years now. There is a joke about Ambassador cars. Since they have individual characters in manufacture, first the purchaser should see his horoscope and see the compatibility with the Vehicle. If you are lucky you will get a vehicle that will run for years on all sorts of roads ( Ofcourse except roads with smooth surface).
But in Mumbai it is Fiat Cars.
Now, the Tata indica (Diesel) has replaced the monopoly of these cars.
