Recently, I have been to this Temple Arulmigu Sri Arjuneswarar Thirukoil, in Kadathur and would like to share few details about this Temple. This Temple is in a village called Kadathur, near Udumalapet. It is around 18 Kms from Udumalapet on the Pazhani Road. The Lord is a Swayambu Lingam. There is also Ambal Sannidhi here and it is Shri Gomathi Amman. This is an ancient temple belonging to the Chozha period. The Lingam was believed to have been buried under the Maruda trees for a long time and hence the roots of the tree are seen on the Lingam even today. Maruda Trees were also called as Arjuna Tree, and hence the Lord is called as Arjuneswarar.
Pancha Pandavas were hiding in this region for some time and during that time, Arjuna is believed to have prayed to this Lord. This is also a reason for the name of this Lord to be Arjuneswarar. .
This Temple is around 5 kms from Kaniyur Bus Stand. There is no bus or auto to reach this temple from Kaniyur and have to hire a van to reach the temple.
