BHAGYADA LAKSHMI BARAMMA - YouTube
Lakshmi - the goddess of fortune and well being is worshiped in order to gain both spiritual and materialistic wealth.
Goddess Lakshmi is the consort of Lord Maha Vishnu, the central figure of the Hindu Trinity, who takes charge of preserving the universe and creation.
She is depicted with hand gestures bestowing abhaya ( protection and fearlessness ), varada ( granting boons ) and two full bloom lotuses. Clad in a glittering costume she is described to be of the color of gold.
She is seated in a red lotus and is constantly attended by two white mythical elephants at her service.
Wealth, Knowledge, Wisdom, Good virtues and conduct are what she bestows on her devotees.
The krithi is a beautiful song in praise of Goddess Lakshmi composed by " Sri Purandara Dasa " in Madhyamavathi Ragam set to Adi Talam, rendered by Nithya Sree.
Featured in this video are pictures taken on the Sapthami - 7th day of Navarathri 2010, on this day My Saradambal Deity was decorated as Sri Gaja Maha Lakshmi and accordingly propitiated. Paddy, rice and pulses, books, money, gold etc. share the alter with her on this day and receive puja equally as personifications of the Goddess.
