Bhumi-Poster girl of Plus-size club

Bhumi Pednekar the heroine of yashraj film '"Dum Laga ke Haisha' is breaking the stereotype of slim heroines in bollywood and is cast as plus -size sandhya

weighing about 89 kgs playing a sari clad traditional married woman who bonds with her husband and promotes his career . She makes the complex relation with

husband relatable . She essays the journey of an overweight girl who breaks her complexes and emerges a winner..

she has become a hit with cinegoers that she signed a three film contract with yashraj films.

Immediately after the film , she has tried slimming down ,She says she has always been an over weight person and believes that beauty is how one feels from

within. She says she wanted to promote the idea that people should love themselves as they are . How nice.

will all slim beauties of this forum take a lesson or two from her.lol

Well you see as long as person is happy with herself..fat or thin it should be fine.

But just slight caution cos obesity increases chances for metabolic syndrome.

This is not addressed to any one in particular:

Slimness is not my cup of tea. That does not mean the complete opposite a flabby obese figure is appreciated. I believe filling material is an absolute essential. You can never appreciate curves if there is not a supporting firm framework. and it is these curves that are the happening places. Hearts and minds are lost and never recovered only when one travels in these curves. I stop here and leave the rest of it to members' articulation skills. I already have a reputation of a khandarpa to live down. LOL.

This posting definitely gives a better kick than a larger peg of Calle 23 tequila / Sip smith Gin / Kilchoman Machar Whisky / El Dorado Rum. :-)

You are making good progress and the speed is just good. But you have not yet reached the curves which will be really testing you. Good luck. LOL.

There is something called curves and something called bulges.

From what I have noted many who are overweight tend to call themselves curvy when in reality they are bulgy.

Curves is having a good taut body with the right dimensions and no bulging abdomen or any spare tires.

Somehow I have noted that the south indian male prefers a bulging muffin top waisted female!LOL

Plus-size models have entered into the Swimsuit Issue too. You can check out the news for the details if you haven't.

I do not want to fat-bash but I do not think plus-size models add a huge advantage to sellers of Bikini, etc in their ads, 'cos they don't simply look good in them!

By the way, most Indian females, for some reason or other, put on a lot of weight during pregnancies which they are not able to get rid of later. (Me no exception).

Sir,

Thanks for the wishes and caution. I know that these curves are equally dangerous.lol

Have you not seen tamil female heroines of eighties and nineties.

they were endowed with both curves and bulges.

thay were a great hit with all tamil brahmins.

they were advertised as kanavu kannigal though many were middle aged.

Itwas the dream of all ladies to look like them .

men used to adore them

This is typical குசும்பு. What is need to drag tamil brahmins here?

The poster has a killer instinct to provoke tamil brahmins. Why such a sick mindset????

RR Ji

Do you justify his dragging the 'Tamil Brahmins' all of a sudden in the discussion?

Be honest and specific in your comments?

This is not ‘Chit Chat’ session and it is G.D.,

The topic is about the change of trend from slim heroines to plus size heroines in
general and the members are exchanging their thoughts in general and nobody is caste specific here.

While so, what is the need to bring a specific caste during the course of a general discussion?

The poster owes an explanation on this.

I am a tamil brahmin . I like tamil heroines of eighties and early nineties, though they were not slim .

In fact I miss them

There is nothing general . we are mostly tamil brahmins in this forum .

we write what is of interest to tamil brahmins and to which we relate

this caste i belong to makes me proud .

I learn something new about them every day.

like they can be volatile also like the member above.lol

When the hero is in his 40's or 50's with the paunch and bulge, a skinny figure will not be cast..She has to be chubby, plump and rotund with the flab at the right places ...Imagine the Kushbu's

For the young male artists in their 20's or early 30's you need skinny characters ....

I think beyond the "fat" discussion is a bigger question. Most women (and men) are plain-looking what is charitably described as "homely".

Typical movie heroes and heroines totally project a fantasy world inhabited by unreal characters. I think YashRaj Films should be commended for making a film that is closer to reality for most Indians. Marriage is not running around trees. It is more like:

dear JR,

I have seen the main reason why Indian women put on lot of weight during pregnancy is becos they tend to over eat and think they need to eat for two!

Basically one needs to increase calorie intake but not to the extent to eat for 2 adults.

Also post pregnancy most of Indian females never ever make an attempt to exercise and are too complacent and do not really mind being over weight..all these contribute to a significant amount of weight gain.

Believe me I have seen tribal women with even 10 kids and look as slim as a pencil.

I remember I asked one of my tribal patients how she manages to look so slim and she told me that she is back on her feet in 2 weeks after delivery going into the jungle again.

So when I got pregnant and delivered I made sure after 2 weeks post partum I started light yoga and by the 4th week I was working out full time at the gym.

When we start early the extra weight we put on comes off very very fast..you will just see the pounds melt away.

Those with normal delivery can start exercising by 4 weeks post partum but those with a C section should wait 3 months but in between light exercises like walking can be done and there is no need to drink ghee like some Indians do during post partum and breast feeding period.

Generally South Indian males like Idlis and Vadas..so they love heroines that are round like Idlis and Vadas too!

Add Sambar and it becomes an item dish.

Some kanavuk kannigaL were brahmins too, Balu Sir. :)

And this it tamil brahmins forum and so I think there is no offense in that comment.

After all, everyone was referring to Gemini Ganeshan with a nickname starting in 'S' !

P.S: MAmAs feel free to discuss about 'curves' and 'kicks' in GD. :D

Here, one type of idli is named after Kushboo i.e. Kushboo Idli.

Now I can understand why some are incorrigible, bcos there is a like minded brigade to defend them on lame grounds, even if caught on the wrong foot.

P.S: I just remember the outspoken remarks of PSN Ji about the arrogance of this brigade. He is right.

eighties were days of Ilayaraja and nineties and later of Rehman.

Tamil film making changed and got to be made outdoors instead of studios.

directors like bharathiraja opted for village themes.

tamilnadu countryside became te main arena for film making.

heroines also changed and became a little different.

slowly malayali and north indian stars not knowing tamil became heroines.

slowly some figure conscious stars became heroines.

good figures with dubbed tamil voices became the order.

with that tamil brahmins lost interest in tamil cinema as these heroines could not fire the imagination of brahmins and they were no longer kanavu kannis.

punjabi tamil film stars were liked only by young college students. senior citizen missed the plus size amma type

heroines in films

That is a broad brush stroke. I protest.

I am a south indian male and I prefer idiyaappam and aappam. Of course I enjoy the odd 'holy' vada occasionally. The only thing which I do not like when it gets 'holy' is my socks.

Your idli-vada theory appears to be incorrect. I am trying to figure out why I still like parabolas, arcs and segments in preference to cylinders and spheres..

LOL.

I still remember one movie where Sathyaraj was acting along with Namitha and Namitha in this movie was training to be a runner for Olympics!

Movie makers need to be realistic..how on earth can anyone as blubberful as Namitha even get to even enter the Olympics?

But still everyone is crazy of Namitha.

My husband always tells me that heroines from the North who hang around South movies too long eventually get the curse of the South Indian movie industry and become fat.

Its true..nowdays even Kajal Agarwal is not as slim as before.

If the same Kajal gets a Bollywood offer..she would have remained slim as ever.

South Indian movie heroines need to learn to get in shape.

But the North does have its fair share of Idli Vada in the form of Sonakshi Sinha!LOL
