KOLKATA: Big spending is set to touch a new high this puja. Organizers of some of the star attractions are ready to hike their already inflated budgets. Several are hovering near the one-crore mark with a few others marginally behind. The bulk of the budget will be spent on theme decorations, lights and on stars who will be gracing the pujas with their presence, according to the organizers. They have managed to rope in multinationals and leading national companies for financial support, despite the latter effecting cuts in their sponsorship allocations this year.
Sreebhumi Sporting Club in Lake Town is bracing for a lavish and glitzy affair. It is sitting pretty with a budget of Rs 75 lakh. The club, with MLA Sujit Bose as its president, has lined up Coke and ITC as their sponsors. "There has been a minor hike in our budget. Our rates are negotiable and so far we haven't faced any difficulty in securing sponsorship support. Almost the entire budget amount comes from sponsorship," said B K Goswami, secretary.
