When does the Soul Enters the Body as per Hinduism..

When does the Soul Enters the Body as per Hinduism..

There are different concepts in Hinduism.

I am relying on Bhagavatham:

Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.31.1, which states that the Supreme GOD SRI MAHA VISHNU supervises the process of a living entity entering the womb of a woman through semen to take on a specific body type:

Why the Baby forgets Previous Birth, Memory?

If I had past lives, why don’t I remember them? Memory is such a thing that we put down our car keys and later can’t remember where. We can’t remember being in the womb.

Were we there?

Forgetting one’s previous birth upon taking the next appears to be a law of nature (though a law that apparently has exceptions).

Srimad-Bhagavatam, a Vedic scripture, says that by the trauma of birth a child forgets his previous life.It might also be said that if we could remember our previous births, the burden of the memories would be unbearable. The memories we carry around from just one life are sometimes sorely distressing. Multiply such memories manyfold, and they would surpass our ability to deal with them.

Text 23: Pushed downward all of a sudden by the wind, the child comes out with great trouble, head downward, breathless and deprived of memory due to severe agony.

Bhagavatam is actually a Advita vedantic text explained via mythological stories. But today it is free for all. Make up anything and cite that it is in Bhagavatham

Swami Yogananda explains that when a sperm and ova unite, a signal is sent to the subtle world and many souls with similar karmic pattern try to be attached to this developing embryo and finally one succeeds and will be attached to this embryo.

Coming to my personal opinion, traditionally its thought that the soul comes through semen but in cases of cloning from a female cell, no sperm is involved yet life comes into being.
So it shows that as long there is a cellular receptacle capable of nurturing life, a soul would be assigned to it.

What the Bhagavatam explains is mostly through the lenses of a normal conception where a sperm and ova unite.

Even in astrology I often here astrologers say Father is the one who gives life and Mother is the one who gives the body.

I would like to not agree that life comes through either father or mother.
We are eternal souls, ever existing.
We were never really born nor really died.

Both father and mother provide us with genetic material upon fertilization, the product of conception is capable of inviting a soul that is karmically compatibile with parents.
Then again the soul dons a new garment( body) to experience its karmic consequences.
In a way the concept of birth and death though so real yet its the biggest delusion of all.

Coming to the idea that we forget our past lives the moment we are born, I feel we might not actively remember our past lives but we indirectly remember it through our tendencies and habits.
All memories are stored in us and it expresses itself in us but we dont pay attention.

I was watching a documentary recently about a type of turtle that takes just one deep breath and hibernates under water for 8 months.

There are yogic practices where yogis can do the same thing and we view it as being spiritually capable.
What if being spiritually capable is about being able to unlock all our memories of all our lives we scaled through evolution?

The turtle didnt need to do yogic practices to be able to hibernate underwater for 8 months with just one breath.
It simply is programmed that way via evolution.

As we evolved we lost some functions and yogic practices helps us identify with the " animal/ insect and plant evolution" memory in us..it comes with no surprise that yogic poses are named after animals, insects and plants anyway.

So did we actually forget our past lives?
Technically no..its in our archives, just that we have lost the art of retriving it.
