[h=1]Bluetooth 4.2 has been announced: Faster, and can connect to the Internet directly[/h] December 3, 2014 Kishore Ganesh
Bluetooth, from being a novelty has now become a standard feature in all devices. It is currently in version 4.1, and has become pretty fast over the years.
Now, the next update to the Bluetooth Protocol has been announced, called Bluetooth 4.2, and it brings in features that we have been asking for years.
First off, Bluetooth can now finally directly connect to the Internet through IPv6 and 6LoWPAN, which is something that many have been wanting.
Secondly, speeds have been increased a lot, with transfer speeds upto 2.5x faster, due to the increased carrying capacity (10x more) of Bluetooth Smart Data Packets.
The third new feature is that Beacons that try to track you over Bluetooth must first be approved by you before they go about tracking you.
Bluetooth 4.2 can be available to existing Bluetooth Devices over Software Updates, but all Bluetooth 4.2 Features won’t be there in the Software Update.
