Bomb blasts in Mumbai

Friends,

Today there has been a series of bomb blasts in Mumbai city in Dadar west
and zaveri bazaar, killing 8 and injuring 70 according to Police sources.
The number of fatal cases might be more. It is suspected that the
terrorists are behind this. It will take many years to trace these culprits
and the courts will take another ten years to deliver judgement. We are
either impotent or lenient. While USA could kill Osama Bin Laden in
a Pakistan hide-out, we are still begging Pakistan to hand over Dawood
and company. It is high time this congress govt. is packed off.

My response is any India's gov't will be like this.. whether NDA or UPA II... because India is NOT US.

US has used her enormous assets worldwide for nearly 10 long years to track down the Evil Meister Osama...

We need to keep away from political bickering at times of terrorist attacks...

Stand United, We Win.

Cheers.

Digvijay Singh seems to have commented:

"India's is better (fewer strikes) than Pakistan in terms of terror attacks and even USA went through 9/11."

My comment: Is there no way to silence this joker, other than by the most obvious way? Do not his 'bosses' realize that his foot pushed down into his 'stomach' (mouth is too mild a term for him!) comments cause more harm for his party, nay, for the country itself, than any good?

By comparison, the good old Rajnarain of yesteryears seems to have been a 'saint' who breathed only sense and incense!

If people have to teach Diggy and his party a lesson, unfortunately they have to wait another three long years. It is a case of total failure of intelligence apparatus of the country. For another few more days jokers like Diggy, babus and netas and of course the media will talk about this and it will gradually taper down till another incident takes place to the total surprise of all. This is the cycle which we are accustomed to observe and the people are totally fed up. Mean while if the culprits by chance are caught alive, the legal proceedings will take many years and crores of rupees of the tax paying public will be spent for the safe custody of the perpetrators of the crime.

Sir,

Rahul Gandhi says we have avoided 99% of the posiible terrorists'
attacks. Not a convincing reply.

Maybe, he came to know of this from the Home Minister who has access to all data.

Again, terrorism is such a difficult matter (that too when suicide bombers are involved) it is difficult to convince the people that we have avoided 99%... and what's 100% and how we knew all of it etc etc.

Very sad situation..

Like in US and UK, India must spend enormous money to install camera EVERYWHERE in major cities and monitor them every second of every day.

Is it feasible economically? No.

I agree with P Chidambaram that India is in a very bad neighborhood: Pakistan and Afghanistan - the epicenter of terror!

How could you change this very bad neighborhood in the world?

See terrorist know that when they attack India even if they are caught you will have Indian citizens standing up for them in the name of Human Rights and allowing a fair trial etc.

Just detain them under Internal Security Act(if there is one in India I am not too sure if there is..I stand corrected) and dump them is some dungeon till eternity or send them direct to the firing squad after pulping them maximum.

We cant preach Dharma to those who dont deserve it!!

Subht Kant Sahay (not sure of spelling), a Central Minister has commented that such blasts are "usual things". He was justifying his participating in a fashion show soon after the bomb blast. That is the sensitivity with which we treat this issue! Well. He probably expressed out what many other politicians (or even common people) had in their mind.

The Congress Party is in disarray and they have no clue how to take proactive measures to end these threats. It is running for political cover from these attacks trying to shield itself from any blame.

Just imagine if it was Israel, bombs would have fallen all over Pakistan, embargo on its sea and air, and a tight squeeze on all its activities. The Indian government lacks a spine to take strong measures.

I am not asking the government to wage a military war. But it can wage all other wars. It is one of the strongest emerging economies of the world. It can scheme to buy Pakistani Sovereign Debt (like China holding US Govt debt) and arm-twist it. It can tell all big trade partners of Pakistan to end the trade or face sanctions. They have to choose between a failed State of Pakistan or an economic giant called India. Easy answer. India can ban all foreign dignitories who travel to Pakistan for any friendly talk, from entering India in future. Hell, USA does that - try visiting Iran and then take a flight to Chicago, you will be arrested.

All I am asking the government to do is, GROW A PAIR. Tell China to recognize full Kashmir and Assam/NorthEast as belong to India at once, or else, India Recognizes freedom of Tibet and Taiwan! China gets a fair deal here, it loves nothing short of winning our acceptance of its claim over Taiwan and Tibet.

Political Trade War can be launched all around. India is not weak. We crushed Khalistani separatist movement. We can easily crush Kashmiri terrorism that is actually externally catalyzed.

And I have no illusions about BJP's ability to anything sensible. None of these clowns have spine. or a pair.

You are indeed right! We do have more jokers!

The question is NOT whether blasts are 'usual things' or 'unusual things'. What do such statements from leaders intend to achieve? Does Subodh Kant Sahay want people who did not fall victims to these blasts to take this event lightly, look upon such happenings very casually? Just because blasts are 'usual things', does he expect the unaffected people to merely shrug their shoulders and ignore and forget it, until perhaps this 'usual' event happens once again elsewhere, giving another opportunity to shrug their shoulders and so on ...!

I wonder whether Sahay, Digvijay Singh and others of their ilk and tribe would have maintained the same serenity and aplomb to speak the same words of 'wisdom', had any of their near and dear ones lost a limb or two in the blast!

Fast action and Punishment are the deterrent against Terrorism. Unfortunately both are absent in our Country. The stringent "Prevention of Terrorist Activities Act - 2002" enacted by Parliament under the NDA regime was repealed in 2004 by the UPA when they came to power.

The statements of Digvijay Singh, Subodh Kant Sahay and Abhishek Singvi supporting the insensitive remarks of Rahul Gandhi reflects the mindset of ruling Party.

Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

its not a wise thing to blame our Govt. its not an easy joke to handle such a large population, where even asking each citizen to carry an identity card seems to be a himalayan task.

what I dont understand is, why terrorists are not targeting russia, south america, south africa,china,australia.. their security systems are also same like india. beijing is ok, but now every town in china is wired with cameras.

why all these things are happening frequently around india, pak, iraq, afganistan

Pakistan - India - China - US:

Pak has a Strategic Alliance with China for a long time; in fact, they got the nuclear technology, parts and other resources from them.

Any isolation of Pak will push them towards China further... after US decided to withhold $800 millions in defense aid, Pak is moving closer to China.

Now is the time for India to go full blast towards the US and do all sorts of covert activities to defeat Taliban and Pak's influence in Afghanistan...

Remember, all these countries have nuclear tipped ballistic missiles aimed at all the major cities in the world.

What we need is Strategic Alliance on a long time basis.

we should leave our self prestige and seek the help of Israel. Which means basically seek their assistance in technology, and other areas of intelligence. If needed we must send our intelligence agencies for training in Israel and also pay for the induction of Israeli people to revamp our security systems.

There is a political price to pay for this but it is one relationship that can really endure unlike the friendship of some islamic countries which tend to waver when it comes to a question on kashmir or pakistan.

Let us also throw the Palestinian questions into the dustbin, we are not benefited by making noise in this matter!

This can be an axis and as long as we are friends with Israel we are on the right side of USA, Russia , UK and a few other European nations. Friend's friend is our friend and enemy's enemy is also our friend. But friend's enemy has to be treated as our enemy if friendship has to endure!

I think most are blaming the Government on its reaction, not on its responsibility. The Government is utterly insensitive of the matter when it says "these things happen!".

Now you pushed me! Russia: Chechnyan terrorists keep on attacking it.

------- North,South,Central American Australia, S.Africa:

Terrorists went there some three centuries ago and cleaned out a billion natives.

Ok, you are talking about present era. I understand. Terrorists don't attack a country, if they are the one in power! (USA, China...)

I place most of the blame on USA for screwing with different countries. It has over 800 military bases all over the planet. Its CIA is notorious for arming and encouraging armed rebellion, which eventually end up as terrorist groups.

Maharashtra is ruled by politicians whose base is elsewhere and not Mumbai, which is used only for milking money. The problem with Mumbaikars is that they express a sense of outrage, hold candle light processions etc to vent their anger. Thereafter they go about their business as usual. When the day of election comes, most of them sit at home and enjoy a holiday. In the last general election the voting percentage in Mumbai was a shocking 36%. Unless Mumbaikars stir themselves, go to the polling booths and vote out the present dispensation of Congress/NCP regime, all this breast beating is useless.

The indomitable 'royal' joker and Rahul Gandhi"s confidante has come up with another gem! Please read on.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Saturday courted another controversy by saying he did not rule out the involvement of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Mumbai serial blasts, evoking sharp criticism and condemnation from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Even as various intelligence agencies are yet to get a breakthrough in the Mumbai blasts, Singh did not rule out the involvement of the Sangh in the bombings.

"I do not rule out anything. If they want evidence about Sangh's involvement in terror activity, I have got evidence. But not in this case," Singh told the media.

Reacting sharply to the Congress leader's comments, the BJP termed them as "disgusting and objectionable" and sought an apology from Congress president Sonia Gandhi for what Singh had said.

Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad charged the Congress leader with trying to destabilise the nation by making such statements, while his colleague Shahnawaz Hussain accused him of trying to divert the course of investigations into the Mumbai blasts and politicking on a sensitive issue like terrorism and dead bodies.

"The BJP strongly condemns the disgusting statements of Digvijay Singh and seeks an apology from Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on this," party spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters in New Delhi.

"While the threat of terrorism is looming large over the whole nation and people need to be blamed after being hurt by the shock of Mumbai blasts, Digvijay Singh is playing politics over terror and dead bodies. He is trying to divert the course of investigations into the Mumbai terror attack by making such statements."

"Even when the home minister and the nation's investigating agencies are not in a position to tell anything about who is behind the recent Mumbai blasts and are still investigating, what sources does Digvijay Singh have to make such statements," Hussain questioned.

"Is he above the intelligence agencies or the home minister that he is giving such statements," he asked.

Asking Digvijay Singh to maintain some standards, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "When the nation needs to speak in one voice and when everyone is pointing towards Pakistan, who is trying to destabilise India by attacking its sovereignty, you are playing dirty politics on corpses".

Prasad also lamented that "nothing better is expected from a man who gave clean chit to Suresh Kalmadi, in spite of mounting evidence against him. What is troubling is that they have their eyes and ears in important hierarchy of the Congress party".
Earlier, talking to reporters, Hussain defended the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, saying, "It is a nationalist organisation to which even former prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru has agreed on."
Image: A plainclothes policeman surveys the aftermath at the site of an explosion near the Opera House in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Hussain added that the BJP viewed Singh's statement as that of the Congress as he is considered a close confidant of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.

"What Rahul Gandhi does not wish to say himself, he makes Digvijay speak", said the BJP leader, maintaining further that Digvijay Singh's statement is a pre-determined and pre-planned political game and is given at the instance of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Lashing out at the Congress leader, Hussain said, "Digvijay Singh has "oral diarrhoea" and he has no control over his language and selection of words before making such utterances. He is trying to pollute the nation's politics". (PTI news)

Does India really need enemies from outside, when we have in plenty people like Digvijay Singh within the country itself?

Digvijay Singh's aim is to remain in news all the time. Therefore, he makes some outrageous statements everyday so that the sensation mongering media has its sound bites. Thus he has been able to achieve his objective. By hinting at Hindu terrorism he has also tried to please his master Rahul, who said that Hindu terrorism is more dangerous than Islamic terrorism. The best way to tackle this menace is to ignore his utterances. But who will teach the media?

You are very right! In achieving that objective he is indeed very successful. The most disappointing, rather, most alarming aspect of these happenings is the rise of Rahul Gandhi, who is proving consistently to be more immature, incompetent and estranged from realities.

Of course, as a half-Indian and growing in the company of only flatterers and pamperers, one cannot expect any thing better from Rahul Gandhi. What a shame that he is being systematically projected in the minds of the masses of this country as the future PM! What an unfortunate day would it be for India, if he really becomes the PM one day! Seniors in his party also, do not have guts to discourage this growing consensus within Congress, for their own selfish reasons. Bleak indeed is the future of this country!

This is a typical anti-Congress political opinion...that's fine.

IMO, as long as Rahul Gandhi gets the support of the rank and file of his Party AND the majority of the Parliament members, he has EARNED the PM position. How his policies and day to day administration would be is for the future to decide.

India NEEDS younger blood.... RG is right there! He is fast learning the ropes... he meets with villagers to know about the politics from Bottom Up. That's good.

I feel the BJP/NDA have not grown up to take on Congress as a viable Opposition.

Their approach has been always how to shut down the Parliament and create mayhem in the country. This will not cut it.

Cheers.

Yamaka: This is a typical anti-Congress political opinion...that's fine.

I am no BJP sympathiser either. It is only that neither Congress and UPA are able to generate trust and confidence in them in any situation, nor is Rahul Gandhi showing any maturity or statesmanship in voicing his opinions about what happens in the country to generate confidence in him. His political exposure and the company he keeps do not vouch any possible improvement in him in the years to come, too!

It is quite amusing to see that the discussion has veered from Mumbai bomb blasts to Rahul Gandhi.

One has to admire that he is highly focussed on UP election, come what may, so that capturing UP will become the base for the Congress party to come to power at the centre on its own. So long as there is a coalition, Rahul will not become PM. In the expectation of his becoming the PM, Sonia Gandhi is stonewalling the Lok Pal bill so that Rahul does not have to bow before somebody as and when he becomes PM. Well, there is a method in their madness.

I hear you...

Tell me your view of how the Opposition is behaving at this time of mini "crisis" meaning bomb blasts in a crowded city - Mumbai, please.

Do you like Joshi asking for P C's resignation? And all the rhetoric of Uma Bharti etc...

During crisis, I thought the Opposition will be constructive... not further destructive!

Cheers.
