tbs,

please see the movie 'யுத்தம் செய் ' or the hindi movie 'A Wednesday'.

a civilized society takes for granted and depends on, the existence of law and order.

one would like to feel, that when one leaves home in the morning, one would safely find their way home in the evening, without wondering if they would be too, a target of a terrorist or a gang attack. not to mention the immense anxiety that the near and dear feels.

i think, one should never accept the fact that there is terrorism abound, and those terrorist folks, want nothing better than to disrupt daily life, either through their killings, or by the fact that citizens do not venture out anymore out of their homes, due to fear.

at some point, we will have citizens taking law into their own hands.

what is there to prevent you or me, with a little bit of computer savvy, or contacts in the police department, or in our local socio religious organization, to get the names of the leaders? for i do not think, it is a big secret as to who the big bandicoots, but the power of fear is so huge, that these guys can walk with immunity in their neighbourhoods, without fear of exposure.

how else can we explain, that osama bin laden, lived so openly, so near the pakistani military establishment? everyone knows and everyone's lips are sealed by a bond of loyalty. or fear.

is that what we call living? even under the worst repression acts of the british raj, we never we so uprooted or so upset by fear as today's jihadists have succeeded in modifying our behaviour and language.

if you think what i am saying is not valid - do you think any of us here would go to a muslim neighbourhood, be it in mumbai, meerut or madurai, and openly condemn the jihadist movement and demand afzal guru/ajmal kasab be hung immediately.

one can understand the success of the jihadists - they are bent on working to alienate the muslim indians from the rest of the indians and if they succeed in doing that, we will not have a mumbai but an iraq/afghanistan/pakistan all combined and magnified several times over.

please see 'a wednesday'. i can see it happening very soon in india.from reel life to real life.

Yamaka: I hear you...

One of the established political 'norms' is - at least in India, since Independence - that the ruling dispensation always blames the opposition for all the evils in the country and the opposition finds fault with the inadequacy of measures / facilities / protection etc. provided by the ruling party in its role as one whose duty it is to provide effective governance. All citizens, know about this practice (very childish. in my opinion, but there it is)! That it is why no sensible person takes the utterances of politicians, in general, no matter on which side of the fence they are at a particular point of time, without a liberal pinch of salt!

We witness this tamasha often, but certainly, at least every year once - every time a budget is presented by a finance minister! Everyone in the Govt. and their supporters praise it sky high saying that it is indeed a great feat and laudable achievement by the FM, while, simultaneously, the opposition picks a hundred holes in the budgetary provisions made, dubbing the exercise as anti-poor, anti-downtrodden, selling off the country to 'foreign bosses' and things like that! But all these utterances, apart from giving a field day for the media, do pretty little harm to the country in any way.

Now, when it comes to terrorism, it is an entirely different ball game! India's success index is very low in convincing the international community of the correctness of our compulsions and justifications, while, increasingly, life in India is systematically getting more and more paralyzed by terrorist activities. Successive Governments in India, irrespective of their political ideologies, have been able to only release more sound than substance so far and their diplomatic forays have only been dismally poor till date! We have NOT been able to generate much international support to our cause, except, platitudes in plenty from many Heads of States, of course! We, being the inmates of a Punya Bhoomi, seem not to have the inkling to be adventurous enough like, say, Israel or US, or even Sri Lanka!

A very high order of responsible behavior, in thought word and action, is required from all leaders - irrespective of their individual political colours. Be it Joshi or Diggy, loose talk and empty accusations hurled to and fro, only add damage to the national cause. But, what cannot be skirted around is the fact that the scoreboard of Congress / UPA in tackling terrorism has not been some thing one can feel proud about. In this dismal scenario, irresponsible utterances of any one, usually made to show their loyalty to some one up above, deserves only utter contempt.
