Nothing can be done in this country without the sanction and approval of brahmins.

They decide and give religeous sanction for any activity . even they decide what parihara we need to perform to wash away our sins.

Even our top political functionaries are guided by brahmins of nagpur and have gurus whom they approach before elections for guidance.

Our middle class consult them about which colleges to join and which courses to study.

Every aspect of our life we are at their mercy

Every aspect of our life we are at their mercy

We had a very famous astrologer in Chennai who was (is?) a guide to many TB's....He is not a Brahmin

Swamy Chinamayanandha is not a Brahmin & he had many B followers...Same with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Swami Ramdev a famous yoga guru is not a B

Let us avoid pouring salt into wound!

Who follows these NB gurus?

Some brahmin elite or beatles or political beings and others believing in fads like yoga.

Most follow only brahmin types.

We feel comfortable with our own clan

In any case the topic is about Kings who were followers of the Hindu tradition! B following a fellow B is not the topic of discussion

You caught me on this one.

would anyone make brahmins kings?

then brahmins can follow brahmin king

Sungas, kanvas, and satavahanas dynasties of ancient india were brahmins.

even ravana is considered a brahman

Yes, brahmins were always respected and consulted by all hindu, budhdhist and jain kings of bharatavarsha. Some might have played divisive politics but majority helped the king in their earthy and heavenly pursuits. Raja raja chola, his fathe and son too had brahmin ministers and officials. Brahmins were perceived and treated as representatives of vedas, dharmasashtras and moral guides for the kings for a just rule of their land. Today's brahmins ought to be proud of their ancestors and emulate their dharmic living to the extent possible and earn hte respect of other communities.

Everybody has a lineage. No need to cast aspersion on Shivaji's and accuse him of using brahmins to regularise it.

There isn’t any ‘historical evidence’ for Phule’s autonomous retelling either. What is certain is that Shivaji needed brahmins to be a Chhatrapati (the umbrella a sign of royalty and divinity). In desperation, he had to get a manufactured Sisodiya lineage from Mewar and a
bhade-ka-brahmin, Gagabhatt, from Kashi, to officiate at his coronation when all others refused. That his principal seal was in Sanskrit and not in Modhi-Marathi. That his prime minister was a brahmin. And his only official biography was in Sanskrit, written by Paramanand, a brahmin.

Nambiar was a perfect Raja Guru Usually a bad guy trying to Usurp the kingdom This theme was exploted by the Dravidian Parties for their antibrahmin agenda especially in film media

The fact that Shivaji had to bring a brahmin from Varanasi for his coronation, is history. Brahmins only had the authority to crown a person as a "kshatriya" king or as a Chhatrapati is in the vedas. After crowning the person as such king of all the people, the brahmin priests were vigilant to chant that "soma is our King!". It is not clear whether this was the intoxicating drink or the Moon!
