it is stupid to fight back a snatcher . life of the girl is more important.my advise is either do not wear gold and if you do never fight fight a criminal. my niece was pushed into ditch on a national highway nearby, country made gun held against her head and her ornaments including thali were snatched . no passerby came to rescue. this is delhi NCR.loss half a lakh and some bruises. gain -one precious life

For girls to handle such a situation one should have some courage and self confidence and this can be well achieved through training.

In Chennai, besides private training centres like YMCA, etc, some of the schools, have included martial art training in their curriculum and girls are imparted martial arts.

In Police Recruit Schools and Police Academy, women Police are given training on such martial arts.

We need to make our girls brave ...Karate, Judo will help but it is better to exercise caution and tread carefully...Muggers are there even in South Africa or Nigeria..I know a real case where an Indian woman was threatened with a knife attack in a hospital in Warri town of Nigeria..So the lady gave whatever money she was carrying..Fortunately as advised by her family & friends she was not wearing jewellery..Best jewellery for ladies is imitation jewellery which are available in various designs & at throw away prices

Sir,

With the price of gold on the rise every day, the public needs to exercise more caution by not wearing jewels in crowded places. Instead, here at my place, of late, ladies are wearing only imitation/covering jewels when they go out. They avoid going out lonely and one can see them only in the company of their neighbours/friends. They are also advised to close their neck with the end of their saree, as a preventive measure.

I do not know if going out with neighbours and friends will protect girls jewellery.BTW who will protect the girls from neighbours/friends asks an anxious TB mom.LOL

But, most know that lonely ladies are the soft target of such elements. Statement of victims will reveal this. BTW who will save the victim who fails to learn lessons from others mistake..???? asks an anxious TB mama!!!

you know balooji dec16 rape victim in delhi was accompanied by her boy friend at 9.30 pm in the bus. that could not protect the girl as he was easily over powered by the rapists.

You should be aware Krish Ji that the accused in that case are four in number, which is a group. But in snatching cases, the accused is either single or with a company, but certainly they don’t operate in group. The case you referred to is a grave crime, but chain snatching is not a grave crime.
