Candles & Travel Advise

Apparently, candles are in high demand in Delhi - not because of the shoddy power supply but
because people are stocking them and keeping them handy for their night vigils after every rape case.

After the Nirbhaya Case, there seems an average of four rape cases every day. So candles are in high
demand there. The legislation based upon Justice Varma Committee seems to have made no impact.
But shrewd business-folk hoarding and stocking candles seem to be making a fortune.

I can understand if the candles on a birthday cake cost more than the cake itself - tells
of the person's age. But candles selling at a premium as a fall-out of a sexual abuse - just too much.

So, here is a 'Travel Advise' [ lyrics ] for women - to be sung in the same tune as
" Maduraikku Pogathey Dee... "

from the movie " Azhigya Tamil Magan " .

Those who haven't heard the song - you can get it on the net, or maybe Smt RR could post it.

Pathetic, but that's just the way things are !

Yay Yem

I fail to see the connection between candles and night vigil,

AFTER every rape, in a city, where there is no power failure as in my place.

I believe the monsters / molesters used candle for another purpose

with the five year old girl (dilation/dilatation???) :mad2:

Good attempt with your Tamil song :sing:

Maiden attempt??? :noidea:

Sri.Anand Manohar Sir

Many Indians do not pay much attention to Candle holders, they just heat at the bottom of the candle, and fix it anywhere with the result wax from the candle drip to the bottom of the candle.

In western Countries much attention is paid to the different types of candle holders, and it is form of art itself.

Here is a small you tube Video clip to share :

Sir, It is sad that such offences taking place quite often and that too in the capital of our mother land. What is wrong with our social structure? Why such offences are reported quite frequently? While one section arguing for stringent punishment, other section insists on capital punishment. Lot is being discussed on the subject, but the offences are on the increase. What is the urge for man to behave like an animal? It is very easy to ask questions so on and so forth, but where lies the solution? Who is to blame. What is the fate of the victims, especially children? While the media take advantage and publish every detail, politicians will be finding fault with one another and the bureaucrats will be discussing about the quantum of compensation to be paid to the victim etc, etc. Public have a tendency to forget and forgive. While one section commits the offence, other section seems to observe mourning by lighting candles. What is the root cause for sudden increase in such offences? Lot of factors are reported to contribute for the offenders to commit such shameful offence.

When I was studying in school in sixties, there will be a period every week on moral subject.

Probably morale seems to be not so important and hence pushed to the back seat?

Dear Tmt VR

No, Mam, those candles that were referred to were those that the mourners / protesters use
at India Gate / Raj Path / RCR and get beaten up for it. Lyrics - I have bowled many maiden overs
and many maidens over - that wasn't exactly an original idea - just an attempt at a remix.

Bala Sir, your post # 4, I guess we are just not ready for the 'Reformatory Law' - and maybe we could
out-source the 'Deterrent Law', from say, Saudi Arabia - probably a few amputations [ phallus ]
would deter other potential offenders.

Yay Yem

Whether or not the people shed tears
the candles are sure to do so! :tsk:

Get beaten for mourning???

This is called adding insult to injury! :mad2:
