Religious Conversions
Thank you for the time you have spent in reading through my views. I also would like to add some thoughts to your views on critics to our religion.
When any one from the general public criticizes a genuine scientists' findings, the scientist either ignores it or has an apt scientific reply which would justify his findings.
However, when our religion faces the critics' wrath, there is seldom a calm and sure response. The response is either one of anger or one which dilutes the topic and leads to further mud-slinging.
By cultivating spiritual prowess in each one from the community and religion, we would get the ability to respond calmly and surely. Of course everyone would not be able to do so. But, at least a few will and can do it.
Many times, even children find it difficult to get answers from their own parents about why certain customs or rituals are followed in Hinduism. Mostly the reply is very discouraging for the child. This eventually leads to a mis-conception that the custom or ritual is a mere superstition.
The child on reaching adulthood has very less reason to defend itself when encountered with questions, ridicule and marketing to convert them to another religion.
By developing spiritual prowess in ourselves, we would be able to guide and answer questions to the next generation. Thus, even inculcating the great culture of our religion which would empower the child when it reaches adulthood.
Most conversions are a result of something missing in the convert. The missing thing may be conviction due to lack of knowledge on ones' own religion, poverty due to lack of education, social ostracism. And sometimes a greedy or crooked mind which wants to gain material or social gains by getting converted. Let us forget about people with the greedy and crooked mind. Let us focus on the other ones' who deserve to get a better deal.
The idea is to empower all and allow them to defend themselves and their religion, rather than just a few people lobbying for the larger cause.
