Cruelty at Burger King Dairy Farm : undercover video taken by animal rights activists exposes dairy workers' brutality against cows, shows them beating, kicking, and jumping on cows.

On Thursday (Oct 11), Burger King said the company had temporarily suspended Bettencourt Dairies LLC. from it's suppliers, and that they are launching their own investigation into the dairy's inhumane treatment of cows.

Dairy owner said he's appalled at the video, that his employees' behavior was unacceptable; he also said his business has since installed video cameras to monitor employees, that he believes the negative impression of his dairy will have a financial impact on his business.

One doesn't have to watch the video. One can see it live in India every day - many forms of livestock
being whipped while having to tug overloaded carts of cargoes - uphill/downhill/through water, slush and
sand/barren, ice-strewn high altitudes where O2 levels are at the lowest !

Depressing.

Cruelty to animals is not something that should be taken lightly. It is an important indicator of how the person is going to behave towards humans as well. Let me give you one example : There is a slum colony in Delhi called Seelampur. It is the place where all the organised animal crime takes place : the illegal pig killing, the gangs that bring in the birds for selling, the illegal cattle slaughterhouses , the stealing of dogs , the bear and monkey owners etc. The place bristles with violence.


The strong connection between animal cruelty and youth violence. This piece is on what teenagers need to know.

But allowing street dogs to roam street carrying all deceases is not healthy. They must neutered all street dogs, and corral them. Either make arrangement to care for them or euthanize them.

It is a shame that on one hand we worship animals and on the other hand we allow such cruelty on them.

Being a Hindu and a vegetarian my perspective on animal cruelty is very different than others. Secondly living in USA I do not see animal cruelty on day-to-day basis. Being a volunteer in SPCA shelter I see my share of it.
I understand some form of cruelty is perpetuated for medical testing, may be condoned.
It is a difficult topic.

And sure again, I have not just 'heard about', but - also read works of Katherine Mayo and even some of the
sloppy rejoinders by supposedly eminent personalities - especially D.S.Saund's " My Mother India".
