Warm colors make the room appear smaller. The walls seem to be nearer than they really are!

Cool colors make the room appear larger. The walls appear to recede creating an impression of a larger room and more available space!

Contrasting color compete with others.They produce an uneasy effect.Just imagine red and green colors, side by side in the same room!

On the other hand 2 or 3 or ever 4 harmonious colors blend
very well in a room and produce a pleasing effect, without burdening you with monotony nor troubling the eyes with severe domination and competition.

Pastels and Muted Colors.

Pastels look very fresh, pretty and are refreshing!

They blend very well in the modern as well as traditional homes.

All pastels blend and match one another easily since
they have a common base color-white.

Mute colors look pretty with black accents.

Care should be taken to ensure that the combination
does not become boring, bleak or heavy and tiring due excessive accent with black.

Neutral colors:

White, cream, beige, an brown silver and gray are neutral colors.

They can be combined with more definite color to create new combination.

These colors are easy to live with.

They form a good background for the other interesting things in the room.

They highlight interesting furniture, paintings or show pieces ,by not drawing away our attention from them.

Different shades of the same basic color blend well and give a pleasing effect.

dear Gopaindu,

I used to write in The Hindu... which automatically means that I will never

put anything in black and white-unless I am sure that the information

is authentic and correct! :)

You may believe the info given here. They are one hundred percent

reliable and are from reliable sources too!

with best wishes and regards,

Harmonious colors:-

Greens, Blues and Mauve etc.
Pinks, Peaches and Apricot etc.

Any group of adjacent colors in the color wheel are harmonious and go very well with one another.

Warm harmonious colors are the pinks, reds and yellows.

Cool harmonious colors are the blues, greens and mauve.

Warm harmonious colors make a large room or a small room appear cozy.

Careful combination of cool colors can create an impression of extra space!

(b). Temperate colors :-

Temperate colors are obtained by linking the
warm side and the cool side of the color wheel.

Examples are:-

1. orange and yellow with green;
2. blue and mauve with pink;
3. red and pink with mauve;
4. yellow with green and blue;
5. coral with pink and lilac;
6. blue and gray with green;
7. blue, and gray with pink;
8. shades of green with bright yellow.

These combination are irresistibly attractive.

Accent colors:-

Accent color adds life to the room! Accessories like cushions, lamp shades, picture frames, table cloths, flowers and curtains can be used for accent colors.

An accent need not necessarily be a strong contrast color for successful effects. Any color from the opposite half of the color wheel will suffice.

Neutral colors can be accented by bright and vivid colors easily. Two contrast colors used in equal intensity will intensify each other even more!

Lighter tones and less intense colors are easy to balance.

A darker room with less light can take more intense contrast colors as they get muted easily. But this may not be possible in a well-lit room!

(e) To decorate a small home..

1. use only light colors.

2. use only a light color flooring.

3. use a light colored ceiling.

4. white glossy paint will make the room brighter.

5. use a dim light to show different textures.

6. to make the room cozy, paint with pink, red, yellow combination and accent with blue green or blue gray.

Or shades yellow and green as I do,

Food, Flavors, Tastes and benefits.

1.Bitter food items:-

These help the body's immune system. They increase the White Blood Cell production. They help to burn off the excess fat in the body very quickly providing us energy.

So underweight persons should not eat bitter food except as a medical treatment.These help to relieve the mental distress and calm our nervous systems. These detoxify and lighten the tissues.

Coffee, unsweetened cocoa, olives, marmalade, bitter melon, beer, citrus peels and bitter gourds fall under this category.

It is absolutely true that what is good for the body may not taste good to the tongue!

2. Sour food items:-

Sour food items heal and nurture liver and gall bladder. They help to create positive emotions like joy and happiness. They help the immune system. They cleanse the tissues and increase absorption of the minerals.

Limes, lemons, pine apple, apple, cider, candies, pickles, yogurt, cheese, sour cream, soy sauce and vinegar fall under this category. Pickling in vinegar softens the food and makes it tastier and edible.

I am unable to make what is cider and candies. Kindly clarify. I thinki, pickling in vinegar is adding vinegar to the pickle(s). If I am wrong, pl. explain. thanks. bye.

Cider is a drink of fermented apple juice.
Candies are hard sweets unlike the sticky chocolates.
Sour candies are very popular (like lemon drops and orange drops)
with women and kids.
Pickling in vinegar is soaking the things to be pickled in vinegar and salt.
These are very popular food items overseas.

3. Salty food:_

Salt improves the taste of the food. It lubricates the tissues and stimulates digestion.

Salty food helps to heal and nurture kidneys, adrenal bladder and thyroid in reasonable doses.

High intake of salt is very dangerous. It becomes a white poison in larger doses!

All kinds of sea food, Parsley and celery can be dried and used instead of salt.

Thanks for the information. I feel that sour candies may be similar to toffees which tastes sour and available in India too.raja48

kachchaa Aam, Orange candies and lemon candies are good examples.

All old people as well as children seem to be very fond of sour candies.
:love:

No wonder since it produces a feeling of joy and happiness. :)

It promotes positive feelings too! :high5:

4. Spicy food:-

Spicy foods are hot and pungent.They support and nourish lungs and colon.

Hot peppers, mustard, horseradish etc help in blood circulation by supplying oxygen and removing the toxins and wastes from the cells and tissues.

It is a long-standing myth that spicy food exacerbates ulcers and other stomach ailments.

But
research shows hot chili peppers actually protect the stomach lining and may prevent the gastric damage associated with the various anti-inflammatory painkillers.

They are high in nutrients such as vitamins A and C,as well as calcium and
there’s some evidence that hot chilies can reduce cardiovascular disease risk, help prevent diabetes and boost metabolism.

They may also have some ability to prevent cancer.

Madam,
I feel that pepper & Jeera are preferable to chillies. In my opinion, Chillies do harm whereas pepper and jeera do not cause any problem. I am unable to understand the phrase hot chilli peper as I have not come across the substance so far. I will be thankful for throwing more light about the same. Notwithstanding, anything in excess is harmful. Further, for some people even light spicy food does not suit due to body constitution. raja48

dear Sir,

The foreigners call the vegetable we call as capsicum or KUDAMILAGAAI

by the name bell pepper of just pepper. They have many varieties, in all

the seven colors of the rainbow with all possible tastes.

There is a sweet pepper which is sweeter than sugar. You must taste is

as a pizza topping to relish it.

So unlike in India, chilli/ pepper need NOT necesarily mean the hot and

pungent stuff. That is why they say HOT chilli pepper since it is different

from sweet chilli pepper.

with warm regards,
Mrs.V.R.

5. Neutral food:-

Rice, potato, sago, arrow root, banana, yam, turnip and millet are neutral food. They feed and tone the body.

They unify all the flavors to give harmony and balance. They give the feeling of fullness after we eat. They provide enough roughage needed for the bowel movements.

They prevent constipation and other related problems. They give energy readily and also a feeling satisfaction and good health.
