Delhi women are enjoying a separate coach for themselves, women cabs, and now the national capital has got its first liquor store only for women. A liquor store in East Delhi’s Star City Mall has created an exclusive ladies-only zone with women sales executives and security guards, claiming to create a women-friendly environment.

WHAT A GREAT LEAP...!!! [ TVK ]

OMG!

Why encourage females to drink?

I sometimes really can not understand India!LOL

BTW a few weeks ago I was in the Southern most state of Malaysia and I happened to see a Pub with the name "Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam"

I really could not stop laughing..the pub was named after a famous song by the same name.

Is this cultural degradation?

Is this western hegemonism?

Or is this another instance of gender equality?

Is this a sample of what represents Indian women?

The answer is None of These

It is an outlier from statistical perspective!

It is better we ignore it!!

I feel its a bad move.

As it is Delhi is known as the Rape Capital.

I am sure men are going to target females who come to this shop and trail them.

So I am pretty sure rapes are going to increase.

I am not in favor of females drinking and even males should not drink cos its bad for health and a waste of money and one stands the risk of being an alcoholic.

Cmon doc, a glass of wine never killed anybody! :) But seriously, very few alcohol drinkers are actually alcoholics.

You are right about safety though. Hopefully they can also arrange safe transportation from there.

hi

i think in india... both men and women equal in all levels including drinking......women are very modernised.......women are

empowered...besides govt can earn more money through liqour......women are no need buy from black markets.....last month

when i was in chennai.....i was in a tea shop for tea....i saw a teen age gal purchasing cigarettes from tea shop....

i know tea shop owner very welll...i enquired abt gals buying cigarettes....he said that she she is regular customer......

many gals are smoking in chennai than boys.....

I think just on the basis of fairness we have to give equal opportunity to both sexes to do good things as well as bad things if they want. If we condemn smoking or drinking, fair enough, close down all such shops. However if we allow boys to do some things we should allow girls too. This also applies to pre-marital virginity, using bad language etc etc.

The flip side of this is we should not assume that just because somebody is female, they are going to be nice, honest, even-tempered yada, yada, yada.

Yes..a glass of wine never killed anyone but why get into unhealthy habits like drinking to start with.

One can drink grape juice to reap benefits sans the "Mabbu" effect!

Life is about making the healthier choices...I am not talking about right and wrong here.

I will give you an example..last week I was shopping in a mall and I suddenly had this craving for chocolate ice cream.

Then my mind started calculating the empty calories..the high sugar content..the trans fat content of the creamer used etc and I felt its better not to eat it but to stop my craving I chose a healthier option.

I went to a fruit shop and bought a packet of Longan berries and ate it..it was refreshingly sweet and juicy.

Then my craving for the chocolate ice cream went off.

I guess the body just wanted some sugar and the first option for the mind is always an unhealthy option..then when we start to use judgment we start to make healthier choices.

Likewise..one can opt not to drink alcohol and choose healthier options.

When it comes to drinking and smoking its not about gender equality here but the health effects.

Smoking affects a woman's health in many more ways than a male.

The risk of contracting any disease becos of smoking or drinking is higher in a female than a male.

Also one must not forget a female addicted to smoking and alcohol might continue smoking and drinking even during pregnancy and this can adversely affect the fetus in many ways.

Men do not get pregnant..so they can choose to die by drinking and smoking if they wish....but for a woman its different...a female has double responsibility..herself and her pregnancies.

Therefore what is good for the goose is not always good for the gander!

The flip side of this is we should not assume that just because somebody is female, they are going to be nice, honest, even-tempered yada, yada, yada.

Whoever said females are made of sugar and spice and everything nice?

We females can be very manipulative and borderline neurotic/psychotic too at times.

So just imagine what more can happen if a female becomes intoxicated!LOL

LOL!

The monkey drank alcohol and on top of that got stung by a scorpion! (translation for the benefit of those who do not understand sanskrit)

So one can imagine the chaos!

Are women not drinking in Delhi before the advent of this exclusive shop? At least, they have now free space and enjoy the situation.

Other cities may follow suit.
