New Delhi, Oct 17: This horrifying incident comes in light of the rape and torture of a five-year old girl just a week back in the Capital. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that repeated rape of minors in the national capital is "shameful and worrying".

"Delhi police have completely failed to provide safety," Kejriwal said in tweet after two minor girls were raped in the capital.

"What are the PM and his lieutenant governor are doing," the Delhi CM asked in another tweet.

Kejriwal visited the GTB hospital and met with the five-year-old rape victim.

Kejriwal was accompanied by Delhi health minister Satyendra Jain.

"It's really sad that little girls are being subjected to such crimes, we will do whatever is necessary," the Delhi CM told reporters after meeting the rape victim.

Kejriwal requested the Prime Minister to spare some time and meet the lieutenant-governor and find out ways to deal with crimes against women in Delhi.

"Police does not come under the Delhi government. Modiji has kept the police under him and he is not doing anything," Kejiwal said and demanded that the Centre should hand over the control of Delhi Police to the state government.

"The LG and Delhi Police have not shared contact numbers of beat constables in the city. People should have their numbers to report a problem," he said.

Two minor children were gang raped in the capital on Friday evening.

[h=1]In some measure we are all to blame for those rapes[/h]How many countries could there be where children of four or elderly ladies in their 80s are raped? No doubt a few but which proud Indian would wish to be compared to them? Yet here it happens not just regularly but, even, it would seem, frequently. Astonishingly, wee babies under one have been raped as well as women in their 90s! It could hardly be worse.

What sort of man would rape a child or a baby? What sort of human being would rape a woman in her 80s or 90s? And not just rape. The little girl of four who was assaulted in Keshav Puram earlier this month was so badly injured she needed an immediate colostomy. Now she will have to undergo multiple surgeries and faces a minimum six months in hospital.

Those of us who thought that what happened to Nirbhaya in 2012 would be a turning point have, I fear, been proven right for the wrong reason. It wasn’t a moment of catharsis, of change, of correction. No. It simply showed how deep the rot runs and since then it’s been steadily, if alarmingly, pouring out.

Kejriwal playing 'shallow politics' over heinous crimes: BJP

New Delhi, Oct 17: As a political slugfest erupted over the gangrape of two minor girls here, BJP leader Vijender Gupta accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of playing "shallow politics" over such crimes and also charged that the ruling AAP had failed to ensure the safety of women.

After Kejriwal hit out at Delhi Police in the wake of the two rape cases, saying the force had "completely failed" to provide safety to the citizens, Gupta accused the ruling AAP of having developed a habit of giving a "political colour" to every "unfortunate" incident.
