The German Shepherd Dog was originally brought to Britain by the soldiers returning from World War I. They admired the dog's courage and devotion. At that time the anti German feeling was at its height.

So they had to drop the original name and take up another. They named the dog as Alsatian-derived from the region of their origin Alsace Lorraine.-a frontier area between Germany and France-where they are used as sheep dogs.

Here they are:

:kev:

:puke:

I'm feeling sick. Must be the lead in this webpage :-)
So VR, how about the eeya chombu (lead vessel) that we used to use for rasam? The rasam used to taste so good in it. I must have been poisoned thousands of times thus. Wonder what effect it created in me?

Dear Sir,

Have no doubt. Lead is a poison. A slow poison!

So it suits people who are NOT IN A HURRY :)

and allows them to enjoy the taste of rasam for a long time.

I will advise you to resist and desist the use of lead vessels-

however they may improve the taste of rasam and the

consistency of the "Gettith thayir!"

Poison is a poison - slow or fast, mild or strong!

Roman became victims unknowingly. We become willing victims!

with warm regards,
V.R.

Dear Renu,

Thanks for the link. Very scary to read!

But I know many super seniors in my hubs side, who are strong even after drinking 'eeyach

chombu rasam' for many decades! I think they talk about two varieties of lead - காரீயம் and

வெள்ளீயம் and the second variety which supposed to be better is used in coating the inner

sides of brass vessels used in cooking. One of the Chennai shops boasts that their brand of

'eeyach chombu' is harmless.

Doberman dogs get their name from a German Tax Collector Ludwig Doberman.

The job of a tax collector is both unpopular and unpleasant. So the tax collector developed a fierce breed of dog in 1880s, to help him in his rounds and with his collection

Now Doberman dogs are use as guard dogs.:wof:

Dear Raji,

Thanks for the photo of Doberman dogs. They Do look very serious. I can't

help thinking what would have happened to the tax collector if instead of him,

everyone else had Doberman in their homes! :scared: :bolt:
with love and regards,

# 29. Chihuahuas.

Mexican Chihuahuas are tiny dogs and weigh less than a kilogram each! They are named after the State of Chihuahua.

They are believed to be the sacred dogs of the Aztecs. They were probably eaten in religious ceremonies by the native Indians.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua, a 2008 family comedy produced by Walt Disney Pictures, catapulted Chihuahuas into lime light and new found fame all over the World!.

Thank you Raji!

In the movie a lady uses to carry this 'kutty patti

decorated with diamonds in her hand bag!

Worth watching when you will be in U.S.A !

with love and best wishes,
V.R.Akka.

This happened when we boarded the plane from Denver to Phoenix...

பெட்டியை மூதாட்டி வாங்கித் தன் காலடியில் வைத்தார்;

The Cocker Spaniel originated in Spain in he 14th Century. The hunters used this dog to flush out the wood cocks. The first half of its name refers to this. The second half of the name is from the name of its own country.
