In "sivapuranam" Tamil by Manickavasagar it starts with "Namacchivaya vaazhga". It is clear with the usage of "cch" and nowhere we can find namasivaya or namashivaya in tamil.

Om--"Namacchivaaya" is in Tamil.Usually it used to be argued that in Tamil there is only "cha" and "Sa" as in Saraswathi,"Sca" as in Sciva and "Sha" as in "Shasti" are NOT there.But(late) sri-la-sri.Arumuga Naavalar of Yazhpaanam(Jafna-Ceylon-Sri-Lanka),a great Tamil and Religious Scholar of gargantuan dimentions, has in one his essays explained--as per "Saiva Siddhaantham" ,"Namacchivaaya" is only right in Tamil and on its own right."Saiva Siddhantham" as a seperate School of thought developed only in Tamil Nadu (is different from "Lingayat" in Karnataka)and Kashmir(Spandha Kaarika or Kashmiri Saiva Siddhaantham.

There is a Sanskrit grammer:-"Sca,Sha,Kha(2nd Kha),Ju,Go,Ru".If a word ending with "Ma","Na" comes before a consonant starting with any of the 6 letters mentioned above then a visargam would come there.

In Rudraadhyaayee we say "Namo Hiranya Bhaagavay","Namo Vrkshebyo" etc. --but we asy "Namah(a) Saspinjaraaya",Namah(a) Scivaaya,Namah(a) Scambhavay cha" etc.

Similarly "Thanno Dhanti Pra--Thanno Rudra Prachodhayaath"--Thano Vishnu Pra--etc.--But Thanah(s) Shanmugapra--Thannah(s) Sarabha prachodhyaath etc

is this the correct way to write and pronounce.

i understand the rules of Sandhi applied here hence we get Gurur when a visarga is preceeded by a vowel other than" a "and followed by a soft consonant.
Guru: Brahmaa becomes Gurur Brahmaa.

also when a visarga is followed by a Sa,Sca or Sha it changes as seen in
Guru : Saakshaat becomes Gurussaakshaat.

in most english transliterated books i rarely see it written as Gurussaakshaat but just
Guru Saakshaat.
Mostly also pronounce as Guru Saakshaat.

is the above way of writing the shloka correct?

Sandhi grammer was studied in Teen age as an "Inevitable evil" to get a better report card.In 7th decade of life the vacuoles in neurons are so big,there are only a few memory protein molecules.Ms.Renu seems to be specialising in Sanskrit sandhi grammer.As you know,even under the broad classifications of dwandha,Tatpurusha,V(B)ahuvrihi,dvigu,Avyaayiibhava etc--there are 14 rules for vowel sandhi,10 rules for Visarga sandhi and 24 rules for Consonant Sandhi with exceptions. To remember all of them is an ordeal.I think it is:-

Guru Brahmaa Gurur Vishnu
Guru Devo Maheswarah
Gurussaakshaat Para Brahmam
Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah.

Vowel is phonetically important.as in the case of "An hIstorian"--In "Vi" the vowel sound is predominant.So according to Visarga 7 th rule "r' will come --Gurur Vishnu.--But according to 8 th rule,in visarga sandhi "Dh"as the first letter of consonant--the "r' will disappear--Guruhu+Dhevo=Gurur Dhevo will become Guru Dhevo---Para Brahmam (Para X Apara are adjectives so "m' will disappear)--I think you may consult other Scholars also.

I forget the day. But the incident is being enacted every year in many temples. This is what I wished to convey (Not all the days, but a day in realtion to that particular incident).

Expert Advice required

Recently in my village Shiva temple, a priest died inside the Garbagraha of the temple. Some details about my village is availbale in the following website:

We use to conduct Rudrabhisekam in our village Shiva temple. Few months back during such an occation, a Gurukkal doing abhisekham for the amman expired at the Garbagraham itself while performing his duty. His body was removed from the temple immediately and `Prokshanam' was done immediately and the temple started functioning normally thereafter.

Yesterday we had a meeting in village to discuss the above and decided to consult experts and perform remedial action if any required.

Anybody in this forum who are well versed in saiva agama sastras, pleasae suggest remedial measures if any required to be done

two years ago while our family deity's aradhana was taking place and during alankaram time one of the purohit who was chanting Rudram in a group fell of gasping for breath. He was rushed to a doc, nearest one was at about 15 mts drive, who pronounced him having died 10mts before. As he was taken out to Doctor the alankarm was over and archana and mahadeepaarathi was also done. Neverthless many concluded that the temple needed kumbabhishekam and few other rituals which were done on the next available auspicious date and then only nithya puja resumed..
