From 6000 electric cars in 2009 it has reached 1.2 Million cars..Astronomical growth!! With advancements in battery technology (Battery costs per KWH is reducing & Energy density increasing) the growth will further accelerate!! Demand for petrol & diesel will reduce, as a consequence!!

The problem in USA is the distance. I went out last week and we covered 1000miles in 2 days. I have yet to see an electric car do that.
I have to have a separate car for city driving.

The battery capacity should be increased..With rapid innovation in batteries I guess your dream is not very far off!

I am in Florida now. I visited yesterday to Miami & in the Mall I saw Tesla Car in show Room The Dhasis is plain & will be fitted with Batteries. Already Large number of outlets opened (as told By them ) to ensure supply of Batteries.

recharging may be problem....for long run.....still petrol version is fine.....another problem....too much heating of

batteries.....very risky sometimes....

The current available Tesla with maximum range is about 250 miles. The suggested price is $130,000.00 for this 2 passenger sports car.
The Replacement battery pack now is $45,000.

It is a toy for the rich and enthusiastic, not for average consumer.
