I wonder why J J madam picks up pictures from her inbox and posts in General Discussion forum?

Is there anything to discuss, really? :noidea:

You may start discussing if you are keen on seeing these pictures!! Picture one has U Namam and Picture 2 has Y Namam. But it is not my intention but a suggestion!! I posted them for the beauty of these photographs

The picture in post #2 is my avatara. No doubt I was taken aback with the beauty of Sri Narasimha in the picture - full of power but still so calm and childlike!

The sections have been established in this site for specific reason.
It would be preferable to post religious pictures in the religious section.
General Discussion (GD) section is open to discussion, so topics of current interest can be debated.
Topics unrelated to other forums. Please note many of the topics can be sensitive in nature.

The pictures are beautiful.

Dear Prasad Sir,

J J madam posts pictures of flowers and Gods in GD forum and gives ideas to discuss!

May be she wants some other member to get it moved to the relevant forum! :)

I do not look with religous angle at all! It is beautiful majestic ! The last Narsimha you will see later is my creation. May be religous symbol for you - fit to be kept in poorly illuminated garbha gbrahas or Pooja rooms ! To me it is more than that! Master pieces of art beautifully photographed to be seen by every one in general religious or otherwise You can be an art critic but where is the scope for discussion? Still if you are keen you can have your discussion as already suggested among yourself in which I will be silent! These are masterpieces of art meant for gallaries! The same is true for the Flower Art as well

Dear Janaki Ji,

Once when I had gone to India in 2010 I was looking high and low for a Narasimha idol for my husband's aunt who is a Narasimha devotee..but I could not really find one in Blore.

Then I was feeling a bit down and thought I will try looking again for it somewhere else.

That evening my husband and I decided to go to the Blore ISCKON temple for the very 1st time.

While walking into the temple I was telling my husband 'where am I going to get a Narasimha idol ?"
Then when I stepped foot into the temple I tripped and almost fell but I managed to not fall down but when I looked right in front of me I saw a huge Narasimha idol right in front of me..The Narasimha idol is the first Idol you will see when you enter the ISCKON temple.

Then my husband said 'I think Narasimha heard you..He is standing right in front of you"

Well, now your question could really start off a discussion. Isn't that not something for posting just a pic? :-)

When people can post news snippets and expect a discussion, why not a picture?

Hmmmm.

Expected this from one of our forum members! :D

While Hinduism preaches 'God Loving', the above photographs emphasizes the slogan 'God Fearing'.

avathara combining animals and humans stopped after a few avathars of God.

any ideas on how it started and why it stopped after a few avathars ?

Sorry for digressing from OP in the thread.

We have different list for avatars in addition to the common Dashavatar.

Twenty-two avatars in Bhagavata Purana:

Twenty-two avatars of Vishnu are listed numerically in the first Canto of the Bhagavata Purana as follows:

1) Catursana [SB 1.3.6] (The Four Sons of Brahma)
2) Varaha [SB 1.3.7] (The boar)
3) Narada [SB 1.3.8] (The Traveling Sage)
4) Nara-Narayana [SB 1.3.9] (The Twins)
5) Kapila [SB 1.3.10] (The Philosopher)
6) Dattatreya [SB 1.3.11] (Combined Avatar of The Trimurti)
7) Yajna [SB 1.3.12] (Vishnu temporarily taking the role of Indra)
8) Rishabha [SB 1.3.13] (Father of King Bharata)
9) Prithu [SB 1.3.14] (King who made earth Beautiful and Attractive)
10) Matsya [SB 1.3.15] (The Fish)
11) Kurma [SB 1.3.16] (The Tortoise)
12) Dhanvantari [SB 1.3.17] (Father of Ayurveda)
13) Mohini [SB 1.3.17] (Beautiful/Charming Woman)
14) Narasimha [SB 1.3.18] (The Man-Lion)
15) Vamana [SB 1.3.19] (The Dwarf)
16) Parasurama [SB 1.3.20] (The Rama with an Axe)
17) Vyasa [SB 1.3.21] (Compiler of the Vedas)
18) Rama [SB 1.3.22] (The King of Ayodhya)
19) Balarama [SB 1.3.23] (Krishna's Elder Brother)
20) Krishna [SB 1.3.23] (The Cowherd also Svayam Bhagavan)
21) Buddha [SB 1.3.24] (The Deluder)
22) Kalki [SB 1.3.25] (The Destroyer)

The idea of the messiah came to the western religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam from the Zoroastrian religion of ancient Persia. Zoroastrianism has similar incarnations of Vrithragna (Indra). Hence it is related to the avatar idea of the Hindus.
