Krish44 – It is more symbolism.

It is King Narasimha Varman who is also Lord Vishnu in our scriptures, his various wars are the many Avatarms. For eg. Ramayanam is based on the King Narasimhavarman vs King Pulekeshi II war. His war in Kerala is the basis of the legend of Vamana Avataram. Etc..

Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu & Lord Brahma are based on the Kings who lived during the times of the Ramayana/Trojan War !! Lord Shiva is King Shivamara who ruled from Gangavadhi in Karnataka, Lord Vishnu is King Narasimhavarman, Lord Brahma is King Pulekeshi also King Ravana. All the puranas are the stories of these Kings recorded by our Brahmins in each of the Kingdoms.

Narasimhavarman fought like a Lion in his wars & his deified as the human-animal avataram, similarly many other Kings had animals as their flags, as their symbols, Or they fought like Lions, Bulls etc…

Shortly after this, the Mahabharatam was written with Lord Krishna as the central character in the war.

My view is this stopped after the fall of these empires when most of them left back to Greece, Rome, Egypt, etc.. carrying these texts to their homelands.

OK you do have a point. When you do not know the origin of a man made object like a sculpture, you just give the location. If it is painting, you give the artist name, if it is picture generally you give the photographer's name. If all else fail then you say that it was from internet. Sometimes inspite of all efforts you still can not find the origin you just have to accept that fact.
Mine was only a friendly suggestion. You do not have to follow it. No harm intended if it hurt your feeling I am sorry.

தன் இதய குஹையில் ஜானகி பார்த்தது ஒரு சித்திரமோ அல்லது சிலையோ அல்லது பயங்கரமான உருவமோ இல்லை. ஜானகி கண்டது பெருமாளின் அழகிய திருவுருவம். அப்பொழுது ஜானகி यतो वाचो निवर्तन्ते अप्राप्य मनसा सह आनन्दं ब्रह्मणो विद्वान् என்று வேதம் சொல்லும் ஒரு ஆனந்த நிலையில் தான் பெற்ற இன்பத்தை நம் எல்லோருடனும் பகிர்ந்து மகிழ இங்கு போஸ்ட் செய்தாள்.

नारसिहवपुश्रीमान् केशवः पुरुषोत्तमःअनादिनिधनं विष्णुं सर्वलोक महेष्वरम्, அதவது நரசிம்ம உருவம் கொண்ட ஸ்ரீமான் கேசவன், புருஷோத்தமன் ஆதியந்தமில்லாத எல்லா உலகங்களுக்கும் மஹேஸ்வரனான மகாவிஷ்ணு என்கிறது விஷ்ணு சஹஸ்ரம்.
ஸ்ரீ ருத்ரம் என்ன சொல்லுகிறது? स्तुहि श्रुतङ्गर्तसदं युवानं मृगन्न भीममुपहत्नु मुग्रम् | மனமே, இருதயகமல வாசியும் என்றும் இளமை பொருந்தியவரும் (भीमम्) பயங்கரமானவரும் கீர்த்தி மிக்க (मृगन्नम्) சிங்கமான ருத்திரனை துதிப்பாயாக. அவரே சிவன் அவரே விஷ்ணு அவரே நரசிம்மன்.
That justifies the title “ Ferocious but Beautiful” to this thread.

This brings us incidentally to the most important issue.
Chandru says, While Hinduism preaches 'God Loving', the above photographs emphasizes the slogan 'God Fearing'.
Hinduism does not preach. Vedas declare truth.
Taithiriya Upanishad says 2 things in this regard.
(1) तस्य प्रियमेव शिरः, मोदो दक्षिणः पक्षः, प्रमोद उत्तरः पक्षः, आनन्द आत्मा || (2.5)
आनन्दं ब्रह्मणो विद्वान् | | (2.4, 2.9, 3.6)
In a nutshell the meaning is आनन्द is God. Love is one of His expressions.
(2) Re fear: See 2.7 which says,
यदाहेवैष एतस्मिन् ... अभयं प्रतिष्टां विन्दते, अथ सोभयं गतो भवति | यदाहेवैष एतस्मिन् ... उदरमन्तरं कुरुते | अथ तस्य भयं भवति |
भीषास्मात् वातः पवते | भीषोदेति सूर्यः | भीषास्मादग्निश्चेन्रश्च | मृत्युर्धावाति पञ्चम इति |
If you are totally integrated with the Supreme, there is no fear. If you create even an iota of cleavage between the Supreme & yourself, fear arises.
The cosmic creation is sustained by the Dharma of the Supreme. Not even an atom transgresses this Dharma. It is as if for fear of the Supreme’s Dharma that even the Wind, the Sun, the Fire and other Gods including Indra and the Lord of Death function dutifully.

Now let us see “evolution.”
It is only the matter in creation which evolves. Evolution needs time. It is subject to time.
The Lord is the creator. The creation includes the rules under which creation is sustained & functions. That is what is called Dharma. Cration is subject to time & space. The Lord, the creator is not subject to Dharma, time or space.
A fish, a bird, an animal & even man may be prone to evolution. But how can God be liable to this? He can take an avatar as an advanced being today & tomorrow he can come down as a worm. He can come down as an avataram or may be born as a living being.
That’s what our Vedas teach. Let us not interpret the Vedas. Leave alone interpreting them in the light of other scriptures or mundane schools of thought or alien philosophies. The Vedas are nothing but the Supreme. He will reveal Himself to everyone as soon as he matures to receive it.
