Forget Capitation fees! Real or Reel!

Poor demand to Engineering combined with excess supply (almost 570 Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu as per last count in Dec'12) has caused this...Also the cut off marks are only 50% for OC in MPC...For SC/ST it is 35%..Market is saturated...There are incentives galore in case we get students,,,

Are you ready to nominate someone and take the commission!

This was bound to happen.

we are turning out engineeers of dubious qualities from third rate institutions

very few get placed in engg companies on graduation

some bright ones get into IT jobs due to their large need.

but they are retrained for a year and get placed in low level work such as BPO low class appliication programming in c+ not requiring any engg skills much .

many also getfired for incompetence after a few months

what do the unemployed do . I have no idea.

it would be a good idea to close many colleges which cannot find students

I happened to go through National employability report of Engineers for 2014...Chennai is the least among Metros for IT/Engg and Non IT jobs..Lower than even Hyderabad

Overall TN, Andhra, U.P ,Chhatisgarh and Kerala fall in Bottom 25% quartile

Punjab, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Bihar/Jharkhand are in Top 25% quartile!

It is an eye opener!
 
Yesterday in the Vijay TV in the serial OFFICE ( that is telecast at Night 10 p.m ) indirectly this issue was hinted in a joking manner where some guys working there said that it would have been better that instead of doing BE and spending Rs.5 lacks for the same they could have kept a Biryani shop and in 4 years they would have been top shot , another guys says that had he practiced singing he would been a top singer by now , one more guy said that the value of BE has reduced to such an extent that the neighbor house lady asks him to fix the bath room bulb as he has done BE ( indirectly hinting he is just fit for that )

There used to be lot of hype surrounding Engineers..After my Engineering when I met all sundry people they used to think I can even help them in lead soldering, that I can solve a complex maths problem, that I will find a solution for frequent fuse blowing..."Engineerinnu soldre, unakku onnume theriyalaiye" was the common refrain...They have not even bothered to ask me if I am a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer..Incidentally these jobs can be done without even studying Engineering
