Cannot contest, but campaign. Lallu is doing it.

I think Jaya and Lallu's case is different and also she always takes bail citing health reasons and if she campaings her bail will get cancelled . The only way Jaya can go on the offensive is when the Higher court totally revokes the lower court order and sets her free of all the charges which is unlikely in my opinion .

People in TN want a serious alternative to both these Dravidian parties and no one is willing to take that step as that step is a long one and will not come in one elections .

Thre is no quickfix solution for BJP here . If they are to have respect with the TN Voters they must stand alone and earn that respect .Otherwise they will have to go with begging bowls to AIADMK or DMK and will have to live with the crumbs thrown by these parties .

Sir,

Well said.:-)

In all probability, she will be acquitted by middle of next year.

I will not be totally surprised if that also happens . I do not know whether she is in some back channel talks with the top BJP leadership . Amit Shah to the extent he was Critical of Mamta in WB was not doing the same to Jaya when he came here to TN recently .

Another minority govt in J&K

I see the posts of nkrishna100 to be most interesting. thank you sir

dravidian movement is more than half century old

it has been nurtured thru hard grass root level work at the lowest levels

it has got entrenched with inter mediate castes grabbing power

if a challenge is to be posed to them, , I tend to agree with nkrishnaji that bjp should be prepared for the long haul

to be considered as an alternative to dravidian parties.

they require a good working cadre part of which RSS can provide. they require stalwarts from intermediate castes

to join them in large numbers besides upper castes ,sc/st communities. they have to get the caste combinations right

in terms of numbers and percentages. Modi charisma needs to be backed by local talent and leadership which only

existing disgruntled leaders of existing parties can provide.

results of kashmir elections are showing that hindu polarisation is driving away other religeous minorities away from

bjp. bjp is essentially a hindu party backed by RSS cadre. with its agenda of promoting hindi, sanskrit it is causing

revulsion in tamils. Add to it its refusal to support the cause of srilankan tamils and tamil fishermen is not endearing

them to tamils in tamilnadu.

if it wants to come to power , it has to get its act together to .extend its appeal to a wider spectrum of people.

in a land full of temples, ramjanma bhoomi or ayodhya or ganges does not strike a chord. Cauvery waters, dam

issues with neighbouring states are of concern to them

the existing govt is feeding the people with various freebies and welfare measures.

no one is exactly dying to vote for bjp in tamilnadu

I understand that some people want a "serious" alternative to the Dravidian Parties, but the low caste NBs of TN may not generally switch their loyalty so easily. My feeling is that BJP is generally not viewed as a party of the low caste or dalits, anywhere in India and TN people may not be an exception. Secondly, while the common people may be disenchanted with DMK for the 2G scam and all that, they would not have got so quickly disillusioned with JJ on account of the 66 crores DA case against her, especially when scams nowadays count in lakhs of crores of rupees, and nothing has come out yet of the great "Black money in Swiss bank" scam!

So, the most likely scenario, and one which we have already seen in Maharashtra and J&K, is a no-party majority situation. BJP may already be weighing who all can be taken in its bandwagon, if a majority coalition has somehow to be "fabricated". Some of the minor leaders like Napoleon might have already shown their "more than willingness" to help BJP.

And what about Rahulji and Madam sonia? why left them out?

After JK results Ghulam Nabi Azad - to Gandhis Yes our seular approach has failed again! But Minorities of different religion is fully behind us You see in Ladak The Buddhist are with us. So we must convert him to Budhism! It will neutralize Ambedkar followers like Mayavathi. Sonia is not well to plunge into these adventures as of now .Rahul does not comprehend as usual!

Former Imam, now Vedic preacher,is new poster boy for ‘re-conversion’
Amid the ongoingcontroversy on conversions, an Arya Samaj offshoot with close links to theVishwa Hindu Parishad showcased a former Imam from a mosque in Meerut, who isnow a Vedic preacher, at a public function attended by thousands in the heartof New Delhi on Thursday.

The preacher, who wasonce Maulvi Mahboob Ali, but is now called Pandit Mahender Pal Arya, washonoured for his scholarship of the Vedas, the organisers — Arya Kendriya Sabha— said. However, he made a vitriolic speech from the stage which was cut shortby the organisers after about 10 minutes. Pal said, “I have organised the gharvapsi (a term for re-conversion into Hinduism) of 15,000 Muslims in thepast 30 years all over India.”

The occasion for Pal’sspeech was the 88th death anniversary of Swami Shradhanand, a Hindu Mahasabhaleader revered by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and several pro-Hindutvaoutfits and credited with starting the Shudhi movement.

The movement, starteda century ago, sought to re-convert Indians from other faiths through a“purification” ceremony that led to communal conflict in the early 20thcentury.

“He was the Imam ofthe Barwala mosque in Meerut. He left his religion and joined the Vedicreligion,” Vinay Arya, secretary of the Sabha’s Delhi chapter announced fromthe stage at Ramlila Maidan while introducing Mahender Pal. “If some peoplelost their way, bringing them back home cannot be called conversion,” he added.

I read an interesting post by a political commentator on modi

He says Modi is giving a different direction to bjp make it an umbrella party including all castes and

regions.

those who are indulging in Ghar vapasi are damaging the prospects of BJP polarising on religion

this will have consequences of revulsion in all .similar is moral policing by sangh activists.

this cultural nationalism will be the cause of its downfall very fast

modi being a realist will distance himself from it to stay in power and extend the attraction on BJP

to all . we will see in future to what extent he will succeed . Charisma can stay for sometime but it

will wear off if he does not sideline the core sangh activists and get a broad based inclusive

strategy appealing to many
