GOD ON THE HILL TOP:

GOD ON THE HILL TOP:

மலை மேல் இருக்கும் சாமி:

I Wish to go and have a Darshan, but can I climb?

Lots of Footpaths, and Trees around each path,
Some paths sported strange name, some are long paths
Some are old paths, some are new paths, and some are short paths
Which one to choose? Which one is easier for me?

Devotees everywhere, Lots of Sign boards to reach the Hilltop God…

One advised me not to undertake the tedious journey, some told me they will go on behalf of me but pay him the charges,

Some told me at this age, you prey from downhill, and some told me wear the socks and climb, God will take care of you,

People carrying devotees on a small pallak... charging

I am in a dilemma now.

Sameeee... ayyappa
I heard the voice of an old man.
Calling me Ayyappa
There stood an old hungry looking frail old man and he extended his hand for food
I gave him some portion of my food which i carried with me , and he asked me for more, I couldn't refuse gave him the balanced food and before I could turn to a near by Food shop, he gave me a precious blessing.

“God will always be with you”

I just looked at his face

“I am here only”, he said “also in you only"

I could not understand him...and I was confused

...
He told me “Tathvam Asi” and went off and mixed with other Devotees, I could not trace him…

I recollected Maha Vakyas "Aham Brahmasmi and Tattvamasi"

The important message written at the Sabarimala temple facade is one of the four Mahāvākyas of Advaita or the non-dualistic school of philosophy.

Tat Tvam Asi, the 3rd of four Mahavakyas which in Sanskrit translates to "Thou Art That" is the principle philosophy that governs the temple and pilgrimage.

As the pilgrimage is symbolic for the journey to self-realization that all living beings possess the essence of Brahman, pilgrims refer to each other as Swami, acknowledging their divinity.

It means, in short, you are part of the Paramatma which is the quintessence of Advaita philosophy.

(The literal meaning of the sentence in simple words that Brahman, which is the common Reality behind everything in the cosmos, is the same as the essential divinity, namely the Atman within us.)

Dear Mr PJ. If I remember right you were a prolific poster before you keys. It is welcome to see you active stirring up debates

You mentioned elsewhere you are 86 or so. My Namaskaram to you for your age.

I rarely visit this site. Rarely used to comment

But occasionally if I see a post worth debating I will

Have heard that Ayyappa temple has one mahavakya written. I did not know about four. These are from Upanishads as you know. And there are dwitha interpretations for these as well.

But Advita understanding, without some upfront belief is the only consistent one across the 10 major Upanishad. They refute all beliefs , rituals and of course superstitions. It is a contradiction to put it all together.

So long beliefs dominate there will be fear of issues of old age and death for people. Great teachings of fearlessness are corrupted by present day practices of Hinduism.

I hope you let go of beliefs. Bhakti has entirely different meaning in truth which is Advita. I am not an expert but from study over a decade has helped me to appreciate this

THIS IS AN IMAGINARY STORY ONLY.

The stories are imaginary all right. It does not matter. The mix of religion with highest universal truth has been a curse. Nothing wrong with a mahavakya at the temple which is a fact. But understanding it conveys about the temple is mis interpreted.

The critique holds regardless of the story being an imagination

It is great you are independent. May I offer some suggestions ?

It does not matter what is said in a given context. Please do not think of yourself as old. Again spiritual blossoming is to not identify with body and its characteristics. Body being in nature ages and there is an expiration date for all that we cognize including the body. Body can get old but you have no birth or death. That is the main message of Gita chapter 2
