Status
Not open for further replies.
Once upon a time, there was a bihari boy who could not speak english and he fell in love with a girl who did.He wanted

a relationship with the girl and the girl did not.

the girl wanted only a friendship and he did not.

the girl suggested a compromise.

she agreed to be his half girl friend.lol

No english no girl for lifetime relationships

this the gist of chetan bhagats new novel''Half girl friend''

interesting.

would llke to remind our tamil only speaking ambis what future has in store for them if the do not learn

.english.

Krish Ji,

Don’t relate fiction with real life.

Every Ambi is not going to be a ‘Madhav Jha’ of Bihar and every girl is not going to be ‘Riya Somani’ of Delhi.

For your information, Ambis of Tamil Nadu are very shrewd, educated mostly in English Medium and are in fact doing good, career wise with IT Companies both locally and at abroad with their excellent communication skill.

May be more opt for Bihar and other States.

tamil ambis does not refer to higher castes or others from urban areas who I agree are proficient in english

there are many both in rural and some urban pockets who study in tamil medium who find lack of knowledge of spoken

english is a big impediment in getting jobs and buiding relationships with urban girls with convent education

Krish Ji,

So, your advice is for rural Ambies who are educated in Tamil Medium and wishes to build relationship with urban convent educated girls?

Our Ambies were taught in the cinemas that love is beyond caste, colour, creed, power, money, language etc.

‘Half girl friend’ story is going to be another stuff for a film.

BTW how many theaters exhibit 'English' movies at Delhi??

all theatres in malls[ there are more than 2 dozen] and connaught place theatres exhibit english films

these days we get to see even latest tamil films.

even in delhi colleges , those who cannot communicate in english form a separate block and are called bhaiyas and

behenjis.the sophisticated english types keep them away.

in colleges like stephens and miranda house they are not preferred nor do they join.

preferance for english in civil services prelims and hindi not being allowed was a major reason for strike by aspirants

students with tamil medium get shut off from jobs in north india since they know neither know english or hindi

Krish Ji,

Even in Delhi you have got youngsters who don’t know English! It is a pity.

Delhi happened to be the capital of India.

How will these boys who doesn’t know English and do study in Delhi College build relationship with girls who are educated in English Medium?

I think instead advicing the 'Ambies' of rural Tamil Nadu, I think it will be more appropriate if you advise these 'bhaiyas' in the interest of their building relationship with girls who know better English and who live in your own city.lol

thats what MNCs are doing all over india.

what they cannot sell in their own countries,,they sell in india

we like to buy anything foreign.

we accept..junk from advanced countries including nuclear waste, ship for breaking etc

returning to the subject of the thread , there is india of the sophisticated and the rich and those who pose to be both

others who know hindi/regional languages and are part of bharat.

the divide is too large to be bridged easily.

these guys and girls may have academic credentials but not employable in MNCs and high placed jobs.

they have no value either in urban marriage market.

they cannot hope to even date a girl leave alone marry them.

there are millions of Madhavs aspiring for jobs and mates

many Riyas who would not like to be seen with them in urban areas.

Have not you seen the Movie ‘English Vinglish’.

English can be learnt at any point of time in life and our 'Ambies' have also seen this and are more encouraged. And as such, they need no advice, besides, as I told you they have pretty good knowledge that they tend to chew only what they can. They don’t aspire for dream girls.

Is It?

I beg to differ.

It is no longer a need based society anymore.it is an aspirational society

Even my servant maid would like to go by flight to chennai from delhi at least once in her life

two male members from her family took a flight to attend a function at short notice.

times have changed.

let us hear from other members what they think

Our maid servant who started working in our house twenty years ago, needed even torn dhotis and lungis then for use in her house. Today her daughter is married to a gulf returnee who owns land, a car and good money. She stays with her daughter and has a life style much better than we have!

hi

our ambis are smart...the HALF GIRL FRIEND may be in offise/college....but in marriage...they strictly follow mom's word....

may be in future...many ambis may have any married women/widow as HALF GIRL FRIEND...who knows?..time will give some

sollution for our ambis..lol

This is real thing. You may write a lot. But the fact remains that students of Tamil Nadu have good communication skill in English especially 'Ambies'. If not why students from other States come down to Chennai to study which includes your own children.

In this connection I wish the share the following article:

In Tamil Nadu, English is the word

Chennai: Tanglish is in!

A combination of Tamil and English, the language is not just fast catching up with the youth in Tamil Nadu but trend is heard even on the radio stations of the city.

"When college students are standing at a tea shop, they speak a certain language. When they're listening to your show, you have to speak that lingo to connect with them. So a fully Tamil vocabulary won't work. Decent, indecent, oru cup tea, strong coffee - these are all English words. But they've become part of Tamil,” says radio jockey, BIG FM, Speed Dheena.

Tamil Nadu is probably the only state in the country where English is understood and spoken by most residents.

A fact reiterated by foreigners like New Zealander Tan Ngaronga, Chief Operating Officer of Satyam Cinemas, the largest multiplex in the state.

“I have lived and worked in many states in India. But it's only in Tamil Nadu that I have never had a problem with English and communication. Everybody understands English, all over the state,” says COO, Satyam Cinemas.

So how did a state so passionate about its own language become fluent in English?

The answer lies in priorities. During the 1960's, the Dravidian movement swept Tamil Nadu and saying a resounding no to Hindi was its consequence. And English assumed importance since Hindi was out.

I think the term Half Boyfriend has been in vogue for a long long time.

Its like this..for example a guy has feelings for a girl but the girl likes the guy only as a friend and nothing more.... the guy knows this but he still hangs around as a good friend hoping that one day she would change her mind and fall in love with him.

The girl also knows the guy fancies her and she likes the attention he pays her even though she knows she will never fall in love with him. Eventually a deep platonic friendship develops that can last forever.

So no big deal ..girls always have had half boyfriends at their service!LOL

pathetic. kejri clone in full bloom! babbles a lot with false evidence, speaks with no reference to the context, and now deserted by bosom friends and bum buddies!

Krishji,
You were warned by the Jan Sangh and their party mouthpiece, do not promote English. Only Hindii and Hindutva.

LOL

me and next generation.
