Greetings for English New Year : I also agree with the views expressed regarding this topic. Keeping temples opened is against Agama Sastras. But wishing people for English New year, in my opinion is not wrong because we have friends from other states whose new year's day we don't know. More important aspect than this is that though we follow our panchangam, it is only to a lesser extent than the English Dates. Even for casting a horoscope we give only English dates now-a-days. Then from the time of birth onwards till the death certificate, everything needs English dates and so this beginning of English New Year is very important.

well said . but what ever may be the new year (tamil, malayalam &bengal, kanda&,telugu, english) all should have the good heart to wish each other.
