Hillary Clinton is likely to announce her candidature today for the 2016 Presidential election...Having lost out to Obama in the 2008 nomination, she is making a strong come back bid...She is well known having traveled widely as First Lady for 8 years (2003-2001) and as US Secretary of State from 2009-13...A strong candidate indeed from the Democratic party!

Hillary Clinton to announce 2016 bid Sunday with video

By Brianna Keilar and Jeff Zeleny, CNN
April 10, 2015

Hillary Clinton is planning to launch her presidential candidacy on Sunday through a video message on social media, a person close to her campaign-in-waiting tells CNN, followed immediately by traveling to early-voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire to start making her case to voters.

The trip to Iowa, where a third-place finish in 2008 ultimately led to the collapse of her presidential aspirations, illustrates what aides say is a commitment to not take anything for granted in her second bid for the White House, even though she dominates the likely Democratic field in 2016.

Clinton has already filmed her campaign video, a person close to the campaign said, which outlines the central themes of her second bid for the White House. The message is intended to send a signal to Democrats that she intends to aggressively fight for the party's presidential nomination.

A new epilogue of her book, "Hard Choices," an excerpt of which was released Friday to the Huffington Post, offers a glimpse into why she is embarking on another presidential campaign. She writes about her new granddaughter, Charlotte, and calls for equal opportunity for her generation.

"Becoming a grandmother has made me think deeply about the responsibility we all share as stewards of the world we inherit and will one day pass on," Clinton, 67, writes in the epilogue. "Rather than make me want to slow down, it has spurred me to speed up."

The decision will sweep aside more than a year of speculation about her political aspirations and allow her to start making her case to voters. Advisers say she knows that Democratic activists are not interested in a coronation and she intends to campaign as though she has a tough primary challenge.

Central to Clinton's second presidential run will be reintroducing the former first lady -- on her own terms -- to the American people. Democrats close to Clinton have started to call her the most unknown famous person in the world. Their argument is that people know of Clinton -- she has near 100% name recognition in most polls -- but they don't know her story.

Republicans wasted no time Friday going on the offensive, with a paid online ad, called "Stop Hillary," in six presidential battleground states.

"From the East Wing to the State Department, Hillary Clinton has left a trail of secrecy, scandal and failed liberal policies that no image consultant can erase," Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in an emailed statement. Voters want to elect someone they can trust and Hillary's record proves that she cannot be trusted. We must 'Stop Hillary.'"

Clinton is expected to trade big rallies for a series of smaller events with voters, as she seeks to reintroduce herself to voters. Her supporters have urged Clinton to take the time to meet voters one-on-one and build their trust.

"The views about women candidates and how they should conduct themselves has really changed since 2008," said Bonnie Campbell, the co-chair of Clinton's 2008 campaign in Iowa. "First and foremost people vote for candidates that they like, people who connect with them emotionally. I think that helps with everybody but certainly it helps with women and the men who love them. It just makes her a more complete person."

Clinton's presidential campaign has long been a foregone conclusion, and speculation that she would take another shot at the White House has followed the former first lady since she left the State Department in early 2013.

For much of the last two years, Clinton has crisscrossed the country delivering paid speeches, selling her new memoir and stumping for Democrats during the 2014 midterm elections.

In the coming weeks and months, the Clinton campaign will look to hone in on that story, using themes such as Clinton's Midwestern upbringing, her mother's perseverance in the face of neglectful parents and Clinton's own time raising a daughter to cast the presidential hopeful in a more favorable, softer light than she was seen during her 2008 presidential run.

Campbell said she saw voters in Iowa light up when they connected with Clinton in coffee shops and in their homes, but those events were few and far between compared to large rallies and speeches. She said Clinton's empathetic side was not seen nearly enough during her 2008 campaign.

"Somehow, that did not come through in Iowa," Campbell said.

But her efforts to introduce herself come as Clinton is fighting fresh questions about her trust and honesty. The controversy about using a private email server while Secretary of State has already caused some political damage, her aides concede, which is one of the reasons she is jumping into the race to start campaigning on her own terms.

March found Clinton at the center of her own controversy over her exclusive use of private -- rather than official -- email during her time running the State Department. The controversy, again seized on by Republican critics, escalated, and Clinton took to a quickly organized press conference at the United Nations to respond to controversy.

[h=1]Hillary Clinton announces, "I'm running for president' [/h]

April 13, 2015 08:14

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today announced her US presidential bid, emerging as one of the top contenders for the Democratic party nomination as she once again seeks to become America's first woman president.

The one-time first lady enters the race seven years after her bitter nomination defeat to President Barack Obama and the announcement is expected to trigger a donor deluge from a vast network of supporters who have long waited for her to officially enter the 2016 presidential race.

"I'm running for president. Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion," Clinton made the announcement on Twitter.

In an accompanying video, Clinton pledged to be a champion for everyday Americans and their families. She said she believes this campaign is about voters, not her, and urged people to get involved in her campaign saying, "It's your time." The announcement came first in a tweet with an accompanying video and then in an email to her supporters. The video features middle class families talking about their lives and planning for what is ahead.

Hillary Clinton as next US president will be good news for India

New Delhi: Former US first lady and ex-secretary of state Hillary Clinton, who announced her second bid for the US presidency on Sunday, is no stranger to India.

In fact, popular lore has it that she was a friend of India in the White House during the years that her husband Bill Clinton was president (1992-2000).

One of the earliest visits of Hillary Clinton to India was as first lady in March 1995. India was till then seen as a blip on the US radar, given that the two countries had little in common by way of strategic interests. However, India was beginning to pique US interest because it had announced a series of economic reforms in 1991 and was beginning to open up its economy to foreign investments.

It is funny that RSS functionary is seeing US election with Indian Point of view (i am being charitable).
She is Christian (of course) in Christian majority country in a nationwide election. She is American, and India is one of the 196 country in the world.
She is not anti-Indian, she is pro-American.
When someone does not understand the world politics, they should find some other threads to post their ignorance.

How does Pakistan see her....She is our enemy's enemy..Does this automatically qualify her to be a friend of India?

Hillary Clinton as next US president will be good news for India

In May 2012, Pakistan went into a sulk after Hillary Clinton stood next to former external affairs minister S.M. Krishna and urged Pakistan to end homegrown terrorism. Pakistan was also furious at her charge that Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri was in Pakistan. The symbolism associated with Hillary Clinton’s stay at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai, the site of the 2008 November terrorist attack, was also not lost either in India or Pakistan.

That Pakistan was not sold US weaponry despite constant demands during her watch was also a source of comfort to India.

There was a degree of caution and consternation in India when news of John Kerry being named her successor broke, with many Indian newspapers pointing out that Kerry was one of Pakistan’s powerful supporters. That Kerry was the co-author of the so-called Kerry-Lugar-Berman law in 2009 that authorized a five-year $7.5 billion payout to Pakistan subject to a slew of conditions was all too well recalled in India.

Your analysis hits the nail on the head. Let American worry about American President. The American president has to worry about their constituency.
India should care about the love-hate relationship between USA and Pakistan. Fortunately Clinton is not for Pakistan, and she has repeatedly shown support for India, if it suits American interest.

I’ll be champion of everyday Americans: Hillary

The deck is still stacked in favour of those at the top, she says while announcing her bid.

Over the weekend, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that she would be running for the office of U.S. President in 2016, and in doing so she left little doubt that her campaign would focus sharply on the welfare American middle class above any other income group.

The first ninety seconds of her two-plus-minute announcement video released online on Sunday afternoon showed a colourful montage of apparently hardworking middle class Americans striving to succeed in their work and personal lives.

Tough economic times

Then Ms. Clinton makes her first appearance in the video announcing her presidential run, saying, “Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favour of those at the top.”

“Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion,” the former First Lady and New York Senator added, arguing that when families were strong, the nation would be too.

Even as she promised that she would be “hitting the road to earn your vote,” Ms. Clinton underscored her liberal values in the video featuring several same-sex couples and direct references to gay marriage.

Her announcement was notable also for the fact that scarcely 24 hours before it came, a resounding endorsement for her White House run came from the incumbent, President Barack Obama himself, who said at a news conference in Panama that his 2008 rival in the primaries would make an “excellent President,” adding that she was a “a great supporter of mine in the general election... an outstanding Secretary of State [and his] friend.”

However, over the weekend another potential presidential hopeful, former Governor of Florida and younger brother of former President George W. Bush, Jeb Bush, said in a video pitch, “We must to do better than the Obama-Clinton foreign policy that has damaged relationships with our allies and emboldened our enemies… Better than their failed, big-government policies that grow our debt and stand in the way of real economic growth and prosperity.”

Hillary clinton is a danger to india's growth.

It is funny that RSS functionary is seeing US election with Indian Point of view
An indian will have an indian point of view; obviously a india soul will have the view of adopted country. Two points need some clarification. RSS is a service organization with strong nationalistic orientation, and is india centred. Hillary is anti indian, and has worked against india's interests and hindus.

1. RSS Event Lauds Volunteers' Work
NEW DELHI: Amid controversy over ‘ghar wapsi’ and anti-conversion law, a three-day event of around 800 RSS-affiliated organisations kicked off in Alipur on the outskirts of the capital on Saturday. The event, which ends on April 6, will be attended by RSS brass and is focusing on strengthening coordination among its volunteers working for the underprivileged.
The Rashtreeya Seva Sangam, a national convention under RSS umbrella community service organisation Rashtreeya Sewa Bharti, was inaugurated by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi and attended by RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi and film director Subhash Ghai.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and industrialist Azim Premji will address over 4,000 delegates on Sunday while the valedictory function will be addressed by additional general secretary Dattatreya Hosbale. Issues ranging from management, economics, law, health, education and communication were discussed on day one. The volunteers discussed activities undertaken by them and the roadmap ahead in group discussions.

“There has to be a balance between the poor and affluent and we are working to ensure that everyone in the society progresses,” said Mahapatra. RSS has 1,60,000 sewa activities. The purpose behind the congregation is to highlight the work done by these organisations in sectors like health, women’s empowerment, education, water conservation and environment.

Obama quietly reverses Hillary’s ‘get Modi’ policy

US President Barack Obama has quietly reversed a policy initiated by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to "get Narendra Modi" — ostensibly for the 2002 Gujarat riots, but in actuality "for taking stands that may be different from that favoured by the US administration"

"Hillary Clinton likes to operate through NGOs, which are given funding through indirect channels, and which target individuals and countries seen as less than respectful to her views on foreign and domestic policy in the target countries," a retired US official now based in Atlanta said. He claimed that "rather than US NGOs, (the former) Secretary of State Clinton favoured operating through organisations based in the Netherlands, Denmark and the Scandinavian countries, especially Norway" as these were outside the radar of big power politics. These NGOs were active in the agitation against the Russian nuclear power plant at Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu, with "funding coming mainly from a religious organisation based in Europe that has close links with France".

"during the tenure in office of Secretary Clinton, several expert teams in the guise of NGOs were sent to Gujarat to try and find mass graves". The purpose was to then take the matter to the Office of the UN Commissioner of Human Rights in Geneva as an example of genocide. "In 2011, some bones were discovered in a Gujarat field by one of the search teams and there was much excitement, but these were later found to be buffalo bones", an official said. The official added that "no evidence whatsoever of mass graves was uncovered in Gujarat despite six years of clandestine searching for them" by undercover experts posing as representatives of NGOs. He added that "five politicians, three from the state and two in Delhi, assisted the search teams, but the information given by them proved unproductive"

Finally, "now that Secretary Clinton had stepped down from office, by end-2012 orders were given to stop wasting time on the search for mass graves in Gujarat, much to the dismay of those NGOs who were getting significant funding as a consequence of the search operations".

Obama administration has dialled back on the hectic efforts by Hillary Clinton to paint the Gujarat CM as guilty of mass murder and even genocide. "This is clear from the latest report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, which has sharply scaled back its criticism of the Modi government as compared to earlier reports". According to a senior official, "President Obama does not share Hillary Clinton's confrontational approach and her preference for Sonia Gandhi, and is looking to establish a pragmatic partnership with India should Modi become the Prime Minister".

Scandals, gaffes could haunt Hillary Clinton in her 2016 presidential bid
[/h]
Hillary Clinton looks ahead to 2016 as the year Americans may finally elect their first-ever female president, but her past is freighted with blemishes and gaffes that could compromise if not sink her campaign.

Clinton intends to draw on her wealth of experience as first lady, US senator and globe-trotting secretary of state to convince voters she is the best person for the job.

Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. AFP

But the Republican National Committee is already labelling her past as a "decades-long record of secrecy and scandal." Here's a look:

The Lewinsky affair

President Bill Clinton's sexual indiscretions have long dogged the superstar Democratic couple.

Arkansas employee Paula Jones sued Clinton for sexual harassment. The president testified in 1998 that he had intimate relations with former reporter Gennifer Flowers.

Years earlier, he had sat next to Hillary and insisted on CBS's "60 Minutes" that accusations of a Clinton-Flowers affair were false.

Hillary used govt email id for private emails and kept in a private server. It is reported that sh deleted close to 3 lakh personal emails from the govt account; perhaps she used to do her ngo related dirty business and that is why she did not allow neutral agencies to check and validate her mails. There enough reports that she operated through ford foundation, christian ngos in europe and scandinavia to undermine hindus and india's fortunes. Hope more slush is revealed and indians in USA stay clear from her or contribute to her defeat. She is more than a practicing christian, she is an evangelist.

"Benghazi
"Perhaps Clinton's chief failure while top diplomat was the response to the attacks on the US mission in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012. Republicans hammer her for not doing enough, and accuse the administration of changing the "talking points" issued by the administration into downplaying the assault.
"But what might live on through the 2016 campaign is Clinton's exasperated response when questioned by Republicans over what prompted the assault that killed four Americans.
"What difference, at this point does it make?" Clinton boomed in a 2013 Senate hearing, in comments that quickly went viral.
"Complicating the never-ending Benghazi probe, the House committee investigating the attack learned in March that Clinton contravened government rules by exclusively using a private email account during her four years at the State Department.
"Those emails were kept on her private computer server. And while Clinton insisted she gave all official emails to State, she has refused to turn over the server to a neutral party as requested by the House committee's chairman.

If India asserts its global economic power by building quality products and delivers quality service and reduces corruption overall anyone that gets elected as the next President of USA will kiss up to India and want to be its friend.

Hillary will be no different if she is elected.

She has already started the kiss and appeasement act. But her anti India record and continued hob knobbing with christian evangelising NGOs will put lot of strain in any business relationship.
Modi has now loudly said that whoever responsible for the degradation of environment now wants India to behave, but India will set its own green agenda.

If Hillary thinks that she can twist hands of India she is in for a serious jolt. Anyway, she is not a friend of India.

Hillary is not only anti india, but anti sri lanka too. LTTE had the backing of canadian and norwegean christians, and hillary helped them to neutralise the efforts of legitimate sri lankan govt. Some more reports on the future president of USA.

"To execute the 'Get Narendra Modi Plan", Secretary Clinton found extensive amount of US dollars to fund a couple of European NGOs who were brought in to the 'Grand Design' to bring down Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi.

"Hillary Clinton likes to operate through NGOs, which are given funding through indirect channels, and which target individuals and countries seen as less than respectful to her views on foreign and domestic policy in the target countries," a retired US official now based in Atlanta said. He claimed that "rather than US NGOs, (the former) Secretary of State Clinton favored operating through organizations based in the Netherlands, Denmark and the Scandinavian countries, especially Norway" as these were outside the radar of big power politics.

"In fact, currently India's neighbor Sri Lanka faces the same plight: the United States using disputed, half-truth, fabricated and false testimony, reports and counseling from operatives within the Tamil Diaspora - operatives who were once collaborating with the separatist Tamil Tiger terrorism to give 'expert advice', raise funds and help procure weapons - to haul this South Asian nation before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva moving three consecutive resolutions recent one being last March.

A lady with exemplary ethics:

****

"Thousands of emails Hillary Clinton generated as secretary of state were not archived as official government records because she used a private email account to conduct State Department business, the State Department acknowledged Monday.

A bill President Barack Obama signed last November declared that official messages sent on personal email accounts must be copied to an employee’s official account or forwarded to such an account within 20 days. The law, which was not retroactive, allowed employees to be subject to disciplinary action for failing to archive records but it did not carry criminal penalties.

The disclosure about official emails in Clinton’s private email account comes following a flurry of reports about foreign fundraising by the Clinton Foundation as well as paid speeches by President Bill Clinton during his wife’s tenure as secretary of state.

Some of the stories, linked to Hillary Clinton’s expected announcement of presidential campaign in the coming months, have raised questions about the transparency and rigor of an ethics agreement that led to vetting of the former president’s speeches and business dealings.

It’s not illegal for an official to use a private email account for government business, but copies of all official emails are supposed to be forwarded to an official account so that they can be archived in accordance with government records laws.

Clinton’s emails were not archived on government’s servers, the Times said.
The fact that Clinton’s emails were not a part of official State Department records until recently means many of them would not have been located in response to Freedom of Information Act requests, subpoenas or other document searches conducted over the past six years.

Some people are ignorant of how politics works in their own country, but then they dabble in something they know nothing about. Parroting items from "fox" news, which is not a news channel but an entertainment channel.

What Clinton did with the e-mail in USA is not a crime. It is foolish to judge events in a foreign land with Indian POV.
But then again it has never stopped this individual from running his mouth.

This email issue has no legs. All the past Sec of State in USA before Clinton had used private email for official business. Colin Powell did destroy all his personal email other than the ones he turned over for archiving just like Hillary and no one made an issue. When people send or receive email from her it is clear they are sending to or receiving from [email protected]

It is openly known for over decades!

In the end it is up to individual at any level of government to say what is business related and turn them over. Hard to enforce anymore than this. If someone wanted to use personal email for stealth business it cannot be easily proved. The email servers used by her was set up for her hubby President Clinton by the US secret service.

It is a good political issue for republicans who love to find some reason to make her look bad.

If she is anti-India that has proof beyond 'he said she said' that will be useful for all to know.

Dear prasadji,

Why this rancor? Why do you hit below the belt? Why hit at the posting member instead of dealing with his post? I find this going on between you and Sarang for sometime. I wish you leave this track and switch over to a new track of just answering the post instead of the poster. That would do a lot of good to our exchange of info and knowledge here. Hope you would agree and Sarangji too would agree. We are fed up with your mutual recrimination.

If you are to ask me as to who am I to question you, my answer would be that I am a member of this forum and so I have a right and the necessary locus standi. LOL.
