This is a short narration of how the Universe will apparently get destroyed, from a long-time ago television show in the National Geographic Channel, with animations provided by NASA. This effectively serves as one available version of how the Universe will get destroyed. (The narration below is from memory).
The Universe with all its stars, Suns and planets are arranged in a spiral staircase-like structure, resembling a cobweb when introspected from far. In between a group of elements in this spiral staircase are also located 'black-holes' every now and then. At the time of dissolution, the galactic center or the 'core' starts slowly contracting. This may result from the core having spent up all its energy, emerging into a supernova and then later a White Dwarf. But before all this can happen, the core contracts. Since everything revolves around the core, pulled by the gravity of the galactic center, when the core contracts, all the Suns and the stars of the universe are pulled towards the center. As they are pulled towards the center, individual galaxies all come together, collide with each other and the black holes, now having proximity to individual galaxies owing to shrunken space, swallow many of them! This process continues, those galaxies not swallowed by black holes slowly move towards the center and eventually become one with the center. This prolongs the life of the galactic center and the center remains active for a long duration, even after individual galaxies no longer revolve around it and no more spiral staircase is present. Eventually the core also burns out and dies... this is how the Universe meets with its fate.
