Indian Obsession With Marriage

The wedding is the most exciting event especially for the girls. They want to look their best on that day.
Hence beauticians mint money.

There are several bridal make up packages which start a few months before the wedding. Trial hair-dos are done and

the best one selected. TBs buy the nine yards saree which cost nearly 15,000/ + though it is only for that days's show!

Reception dresses are not sarees anymore. They are designer dresses with lot of shiny material all over.

May be, the girls start dreaming of the day right from their teen age!! ;)

hi

i saw same in the military parties....many wives are short and sometimes bulky too....but generally military officers are very

tall and slim too...i had one army captain in my army regiment......the officer is more than 6 feet talll and wife is less 4 feet...

i used think always....how this match works....he is punjabi jatt....she is from haryana...

Only kissing while standing would be a problem..otherwise while lying down there is no problem!

Dear RR ji,

I did my own make up for my wedding.

I only got a beautician to do my hair and tie my saree.

I never let a beauticians touch my face cos some of them have their own make up brushes and make up too which would be contaminated by using it on others too.

A beautician is surely never going to sterilize her instruments..so no way I would let a beautician used bacterial laden brushes.

Also most beauticians try to make a person many shades fairer with tons of foundation and people end up looking grey.

I hate foundation make up...I do not like it cos it masks the skin real sheen and color...it does not matter if one is dark or fair..as long the skin looks healthy...that itself is beautiful.

So I just applied lipstick and talcum powder for my face and shaded my eyebrows a little.

I did not even use Kajal cos I dont like Kajal.

Everyone at my wedding asked me who did my make up cos its so natural..its looks as if you are not wearing make up..so well done.

I said "yes..exactly..I am only using lipstick".

Many women touch the feet of their better half instead of kissing many times.

Have you seen first night scenes in tamil films ?

That is possible only if you think pati is parmeshwar.

So there are 2 guys? Pati and Parameshwar!

Have we wondered what it is to be born in a brahmin community?

To start with ,waking up early at 5am or so in partial darkness even on holidays .

Have or make filter coffee.

Put up with relatives who read only 'The Hindu' and discuss only education and bank interest rates

Bragging relatives who talk about children in US or canada. Also talking about brahmin achievers abroad is also included.

Men in veshtis and caste signs talking about scriptures , holy men visiting the town and how the world has gone downhill due to slide in dharma.

Women is silks, jasmine flowers in hair with huge bindis and talking of gold bangles or ear drops, kolams in the same breath talking of films and TV serials.

Radio /TV belting out suprapadham, religeous lectures by holy men wearing huge caste signs in the backdrop.

And then unknown brahmins asking whether you are married after finding out your edu, career profiles.

Somehow marriage is very high on every brahmins mind.

It seems their world would come to a dead stop if a neighbouring girl or boy is not married
Bachelor Boy in their view is a menace to society, an educated working girl someone just waiting to escape to any place which borders on hell having lot of undesirable

NBs.

Most have a ghetto mentality of not wanting to mix with anyone other than a brahmin unless it is a compulsion like office work or buying vegetables etc.

Today saw promo of hindi film ka aur ki -A Balki film starring Arjun kapoor and Kareena kapoor.

It is about two lovers after marriage, the boy though an IIT graduate opting to be a homemaker while wife goes out and works

An interesting film on change in gender equations and work distribution in new age marriages.

Many of us having working wives after our retirement do take over some of the domestic jobs like laying the table or help in cleaning the dishes if domestics play truant.

Fixing domestic appliances which are not functional, running washing machines etc are normal duties taken over.

This is in addition to manly duties of paying all the bills without wifes money.{ a womans money has double or thrice the value of mans money}. Never ask a woman for

money and always take purse out on outings. This will be treated as manly duty.

Our brahmin boys do not realise this when they try to date girls. They value their money more than the girl. Most girls complain also that brahmin boys do not pick up and

drop them home after a date . When will these guys learn to be neatly turned out and learn to be be courteous and soft talk?.

Dear Krish Sir,

My DIL asked me whether I have brought Janaki Coffee - a famous one in K K Nagar in Sing Chennai. I said NO! Then she

told me that her friend's parents brought 6 Kg coffee powder, packed in half kilo airtight packets. Such is the addition.

As far as we are concerned anything tasty is OK. :)

Filter coffee and The Hindu (in a few housed TOI) starts every morning. If the news paper is extinct, mAmAs will find it

difficult to cover their faces, without doing any work at home - I write about most of the seniors. In Sing Chennai, many

mAmAs and mAmis become health conscious, especially after their first visit to the U S of A because most of the sons /

daughters buy sturdy sports shoes for them. It is fun to watch mAmis in saree and shoes that don't match the color of the

saree do duck walks on the streets!

BTW, listening to Suprabatham in the morning gives a blissful feeling whether we chant along with it or not. Daily pooja /

prayer with lamp and agarbathi (the empty boxes used for freshening up the cupboards!! ) are must to give peace of mind.

The elders have shown rAjamArgam to us; if we neglect it and go in a dirty lane - it is ONLY our wish! :decision:

Dear Krish ji,

What has getting up at 5 am be linked to only the TB community?

So many of us too get up at 5 am to get ready for work which starts at 8am...some need to leave their houses by 6am to beat the traffic.

Out here school starts at 7.30am..so kids are up by 5am to catch a bus to school and not be late.

Even on holidays I wake up at 5 am automatically cos the human body has something called a circardian rhythm which makes some amount of functions sort of habitual.

Sleeping into late morning even on holidays is not a good habit cos if one is awake early one has more time to enjoy the holiday.

Dear Renu,

Tall men learn from giraffes. Hope you get the point!!

In delhi , If you desire to hold a womans hand right outside her flat door, Ring the bell early morning at 6 am. Only the womans hand will come out thru slightly opened door to

accept milk bag. One can hold it . The women are half sleepy normally. They assume it is the milkman ringing.lol

,lol

Only brahmin women pray for better husbands in next janma who will make coffee for them .
I thought they would like to become a tambrahm hubby and take revenge on her hubby who is his wife then!

This is what is meant by ErEzhu janmaththilum piriyEn! :D
