Jaya Verdict – Dangerous trend of Vendetta Politics!!

In the last 3+ yrs, south Indians have been shocked by the sheer ruthlessness & vengeful attacks by North Indian Media & politicians. In the name of anti corruption, they have gone after one south politician after another - Shashi Tharoor, Suresh Kalmadi, Gali Reddy Brothers, Kanimozhi, Raja,Yeddyurappa, Maran brothers, Jagan Reddy, N Srinivasan (BCCI) & nowJayalalithaa.

Bail hearings are delayed, deliberately denied for 1 to 2 yrs, whether in the case of Jagan, Kalmadi, Kanimozhi, Raja or Yeddyurappa. Supreme Court intervened pro-actively, dethroned N Srinivasan & ensured he does not come back as BCCI Chief.

I am yet to see a North Indian politician or anyone for that matter taken apart in the media for any of the corruption cases!!

None will object if the agenda is to clean up corruption in politics, however when it is applied selectively only to south indians then we have a huge problem.

Congress started this trend & now the new dispensation under BJP has followed suit. Apart from this, there is a dangerous trend to sideline the regional satraps like Jaya, Uddhav & Mamata etc.

So why are the South Indians alone being targeted with such vengeance? . My view is there has always been a huge divide between South& North historically.

South was ruled by the SriVijaya Empire (Vijayanagar) fora very long time & hence has remained isolated in history. This divide became worse after the independence from the British, where the south states came under the federal structure under Delhi.

Apart from this, the recent huge immigration of North Indians to South has contributed to more conflicts, & ill will. North Indians feel they are not well received or not treated well by South Indians & this was also echoed by the North Politicians. Since the North Indians politicians control all the key institutions, they have started targeting the south leaders one by one.

This is a very dangerous trend as it will lead to massive south consolidation & retaliation further creating a huge wedge. Tamil diaspora is spread across the entire world, they will now start retaliating.

In short, the new dispensation which came on the positive premise of “development for all” has many other agendas & unfortunately these have taken prominence after the elections!

A politician has been accused of accumulating wealth by using the power given to her by people. She has been found guilty by the court and has been given a punishment. Why repeatedly Sankaracharya is brought into the picture? A CM represents Government of the people in a democratic country. The Government is supposed to arrest an individual-whoever he may be-if there is sufficient reason as per law and bring him/her to justice by following the CrPC. If you were the CM and if a Cleric belonging to another religion is suspected of murder, wont your law enforcing machinery bring him to the court after arresting him. It is a different matter that he may prove himself to be innocent utilising the opportunities and rights available under the CrPC. But it is the Government's duty to carry out the process of justice. There is nothing wrong that the Govt. Committed. So it is not for the reason that the TN govt arrested Sankaracharya that JJ is arrested now. தென்னை மரத்தில் தேள் கொட்டினால் பனைமரத்துக்கு நெரி கட்டுவதில்லை. There is no need to do a முடிச்சு between மொட்டைத்தலை & முழங்கால். And even if there was a miscarriage of justice in the case of Sankaracharya there is no logic to expect that JJ should suffer for that. If you expect that JJ should have personally gone to Sankara mutt in Kancheepuram waited for the darshan of Acharya and then asked him politely in murmur whether he would come along with her to the local police station to explain the murder charge against him, you are living in your own topsy turvy make believe world. Get to reality soon. Just as it is only right to arrest a CM on charges of corruption as ordered by court, it was only proper to have arrested a religious head on charges of suspected murder as that is the position of law. Sankaracharya proved his innocence in the court and we are happy about that. Let us stop with that. It would be good and proper for the TBs to close the chapter and move on.

Even for argument's sake your position is taken in, what would be your answer to the question"which karma of the Acharya came into action when he was put in prison?" Or is it that the karma started one fine morning in Poes Garden and disappeared after Justice Da Cunha passed the judgment? LOL.

I dont get it..why is Karma being dragged in here?

It can also be argued that technically no one is Karmically innocent.

If the Acharya had to sit on the pavement of Kancheepuram court that means he too had a Karma that made him undergo this isnt it?

So who is fully innocent?

No one.

The best is to leave Karma out of any crime and stick with the legal and justice system.

It seems you are terribly disturbed by the arrest of JJ. Your statement that South Indian politicians are being targeted does not have any substance. Were Kamaraj, MGR and Annadurai targeted?

Emergency was imposed due to Indira Gandhi's conviction. Sukh Ram was punished. Latest case is that of Lallu Prasad Yadav. So many politicians were booked after Babri Masjid demolition and Gujarat riots.

By bringing the subject of North and South divide, we cannot protect the highly corrupt politicians.

I feel we should await the probe into black-moneys in Swiss and other banks (Justice Shah Committee) and what kind of results this committee will (is made to) bring out. If that also follows the by-now familiar anti-Madrasi line, it will be appropriate to vote either of the Dravidian Parties to power in TN.

On the contrary, you seem to be terribly disturbed by my post & you clearly have serious comprehension / understanding problems. First off, you need to read upon the geo political issues on the insider/outsider problems in Mumbai, in south states, the various statements related to this subject by North politicians (including Rahul Gandhi) during their campaign in Bihar/UP during the lok sabha elections !!

People following the Indian politics will understand how Jagan, Kanimozhi, yeddyurappa, Raja, etc were deliberately put in jail at the FIR (pre-trail) stage, they were not even convicted & how they were denied bail repeatedly for months on end.

Everything is Karma, there is no need to state the obvious!!. so since karma always works, then we don’t need any judiciary, no need for any police, since Karma will take care of the criminals, thugs etc..

While JJ made a big mistake with the Acharyas, that does not mean, she should face the same treatment !!. This is a democracy, not some middle eastern sharia system, where we lynch the criminals on the road !!

This is a clear case of corruption and acquisition through fraudelent means. There is even paper trail to evidence the facts. Subramaniam Swamy had commented that only crooks use the shield of "vendetta politics" to bemoan their plight as they have nothing else to offer.

He gave an example - JJ apparently had(s) a winery in Hyderabad(?) which yield, as given in the court, appeared to be ten times more than the highest yielding winery in the world. Ridiculous. Read the papers; there are a number of evidences that clinched the case.

Since I have not followed the case, my comments are tentative. There are certain things which are baffling

Jaya ,being intelligent, did she not know that she has to convince Tax Authorities about the huge sums credited to her account. Is she foolish to commit such a blunder?

Even a child would have anticipated that the judgement would go against it,going by the events prior to the day of judgement. The date was postponed from 20th to 27th. In the meantime the PM left for USA. 27th was a Saturday followed by 6 holidays. All the accused
were required to be present. Easy to guess that it was decided to keep her in jail for 10 days.

Notifcation of cauvery Tribunal award, Mullaiperiyar victory - all these have earned her more enemies. Her welfare schemes like cheap food, foodgrains, medicines have increased her popularity. She will become stronger. So, everyone wanted to finish her politically.

I do not know how Mr.Jethmalani is going to handle the case. Not explaining the credit entries does not necessary mean corruption. Corruption is extraction and a sum given for gaining some undue advantage. This has to be proved. If the credit entries are not explained , it may tantamount to concealment of income. One has to pay tax with interest and penalty. A gift is not equivalent to corruption. It all depends upon how the lawyers have argued her case. Perhaps JJ might have felt that this is a case of concealment and not corruption and that is why she was confident till the last.
