Koti Dandavata Pranam, humbly seeking your blessings

Koti Dandavata Pranam, humbly seeking the blessings of all the holy brahmanas and their blessed holy sahadharminis, vande jagatah pitarau parvati maheshvarau, namaste astu, namo namah.

Sri Chaitanya, determined to leave Navadvipa and take sannyasa, but frustrated at every turn by all the bonds of affection holding him fast to that beloved place, found an interesting device to achieve his goals being very learned in the shastras! He was well-known in his childhood for his rambunctious behavior, earning a notoriety that persisted long after he was married and settled down as a famous grammarian! Taking advantage of this residual infamy, he hurried to the Mother Ganga where the holy brahmanas where engaged in their ahnikas and other practices after their bath, and took a huge dive calculated to splash drops of water on the staid and disapproving vipras, exactly as he was wont to do as a naughty boy! Infuriated, they cursed him! "We tolerated your nonsense when you were little but no more! You will leave Navadwip in 3 days by the power of our curse!" they shouted. Smiling, he came out of the water with folded hands and begged their pardon with extreme humility and grace. He said, I know that nothing can happen without the blessing of holy brahmanas like your kind selves and that you would never have allowed me to leave had I begged you in an ordinary way. So, I had to take this path, to achieve your blessings via your curses! Realizing they had been outwitted, they blessed him and hugged him. Later, the whole town would cry, not wanting to let go of him, so extreme was his magnetic charm.

The purpose of this little story is two-fold. One, it is always auspicious to reiterate the deeds of a great avatara, because that is itself worthy of such a forum. Second, it is my humble prayer that I may never be the object of any such curse, through my inadvertent foolishness, arrogance or other innumerable faults which infinite, constant and egregious. Therefore, I shall humbly beg pardon for all such crimes in advance.

I have 3-4 main aims in being part of such an august company and I am not being insincere at all with my words, howsoever trite and foolish they might sound. Gradually, I pray I shall be able to elucidate each of those goals lucidly and coherently, because lucidity is not my strong suit.

The first goal, if the Holy Lord pleases that such is made possible, is two-fold:

To discover some group of sadhakas who have substantial mantra-chaitanya in the 32-syllable anushtup mantra of Bhagavan Sri LakshmiNrsimha, especially any who come from Mukkur Swamigal's parampara. I have tried to contact both the Chennai and the Mattampalli addresses and telephone numbers. I live in upstate NY and am not a speaker of any south Indian language. All attempts to contact the known sources in Rochester, MN, etc. have failed. All the contacts in India are wrong or not working, or do not answer. So, this is a problem of circularity, all too familiar to someone from West Bengal. A closed loop that can ONLY be penetrated by someone with an inner key.

I have a friend who belongs to the family of high priests of Sri Simhachalam; both he and his wife share the enviable lineage. But he says his father brought him up to be a Marxist and free thinker and these things are not his cup of tea, and so I cannot use his good offices to write to such places!

It is my earnest prayer that someone on these forums can help me, and also help me find one or more truly devoted ritviks close to Kolkata who can perform the Swati Mahayajna for the Lord Nrsimha.

The Lord Padmanabhaswami Temple in Kerala has a specific emanation of Lord LaksmiNarasimha. Now, in Kolkata there are many devotees of Ma Anandamayi who is seen as the specific emanation of Lord Padmanabhaswami; She Herself very clearly and emphatically made this clear, and She was not in the habit of speaking much or making absurd claims.

It is now felt by some of Her very few direct disciples, and also this person, that there is a growing need from within to see the Holy Lord LakshmiNrsimha's seva and Swati aradhana established. Additionally, it would seem that the Lord of Mattampalli made His/Their appearance on the Akshaya Tritiya Tithi, in addition to Lord LakshmiNrsimha's avirbhava tithi. It is felt that this vishesha utsava should be established with special care.

We do not know some point as follows, but do see that multiple vibhutis of the Holy Lord being worshipped in a peetham like Ahobilam, even three emanations in one shrine. In Bengal, we have some traditions that say that TWO Lord Ganapatis, TWO Holy Lingams, etc. should not be established TOGETHER on the same platform. Yet, we find that those who are not Bengalis, in Kolkata, are unaware of these prohibitions, and comfortably establish Twin Holy Lingams and offer worship for dozens of decades with no ill effects. Similarly, we eschew the sound of ghanta in all worship associated with Mother Lakshmi Devi, and yet I find some orthodox South Indians employing ghanta.

So, my question is, can the form of the Lord Nrsimha as found in the Lord Padmanabhaswami temple be established and worshipped in the same platform or in the same sannidhi as the Holy Lord of Mattampalli? How Many Holy Emanations of the Lord are permissible on one platform and in one sannidhi?

What is worrisome to me is that the daily archana will have to be simultaneous, causing confusion in terms of noise, interruption, and general disrespect to each of the Holy Emanations.

I shall respectfully await your advice. I know that there are many issues intertwined in the above questions, but any few answers will be gratefully acknowledged.

Pranam.

Gautam Bhattacharya.
