Dear Community,
I am a Professor of Neurosciences at the Medical University of South Carolina and carry out research on Dementia. My father's family comes from a small village -Vembi- in the north Arcot district of Tamil Nadu. I moved to the USA in 1982 and completed a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics in 1989. I am married with 1 child who is in the final year of high school and is currently applying to colleges in several states within the United States. My wife was a lecturer in English at the Pachaiappa College for Women in Kanchivaram and has been a home maker helping to care for my elderly dad who is currently visiting India.
I feel that as a community, we are highly underrepresented in biomedical research and would like to connect with others with similar interests.
Kumar
