We are about to witness a revolution. Everything we own is going to plug into the Internet, and everything is able to communicate and share data with everything else.

Smartwatches are advancing, and that has put the watch Industry under pressure. Why would people want to buy a dumb $3000 Watch, when they can buy a pretty good looking Smart one for $250?

This is why Watchmakers are trying to make their Watches smarter. Not so much as to alienate their Brand, but still enough to actually be useful to the Consumer.

It started with the Withings Active, and now, Montblanc is stepping in to shake things up. Montblanc has announced the e-Strap.

It is a Watchband made from premium Materials that adds a small Display to the inside of your Hand, so that you can view incoming Notifications and stay updated on your Digital Lives.

What Premium Materials are we talking about? Florentine Leather and “Diamond-like Carbon”.

It also adds in a few Sensors for some basic Fitness Tracking. The e-Strap is the perfect way to make your dumb Watch Smart, while not sacrificing anything.

It connects to select Android and iOS Smartphones via Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) and has a battery life of 5 Days.

It will be up for grabs soon at a price of around 250 Pounds, which seems expensive for a Watch Accessory, but from the perspective of someone who just spent a lot of money on a Watch, 250 Pounds seems pretty cheap.

The e-Strap is the perfect way to bring Analog and Digital together. It is Smart enough to be useful, while not being so Smart so as to shift your Watch’s focus from elegance to being a Smartphone on your Wrist.
