அழகு மேம்படுத்த, பெண்களே முயன்றனர் முன்பு!
அழகு மேம்படுத்த, ஆண்களும் விழைவார் இன்று!
அக அழகு தேவை என்று எத்தனை சொன்னாலும்,
அதை பலரும் ஏற்க நாட்டம் கொள்ளுவதில்லை!
வள்ளுவர், சான்றோர்கள்தானே அக அழகினைக்
கொள்ள வேண்டுமெனச் சொன்னார்? அதனால்,
சான்றோராக இருப்பதைவிட, புற அழகு கொண்டு,
சாதாரணமாக இருக்கவே ஆசையும் வருகிறதோ?

அழகான முதுமை!
இயற்கை அன்னையின் மாட்சி இங்கே
இயல்பாகத் தோன்றி மயக்கும் காட்சி!
துளிர் விட்டு, வளர்ந்து, கீழே விழுந்து
உயிர் துறக்கும் முன், எத்தனை அழகு!
இலையுதிர் கால அழகினை, இயற்கை
அலைபோலப் பரப்பி உள்ளது இங்கே!
அமெரிக்காவின் சில பகுதிகள், இந்த
அமைதியான அழகைக் காட்டிவிடும்!
சில மரங்கள் தகதகக்கும் தங்கமாகவே;
சில மரங்கள் அதிசயமாகச் சிவப்பிலே!
சில மரங்கள் பரிமளிக்கும் ஆரஞ்சிலே;
சில மரங்கள் மயக்கிடும் ஊதாவிலே!
சில மரங்கள் இரட்டை நிறங்களிலே;

கொடிகளும், செடிகளும் வண்ணமயம்;

குறை குடம் தான் தளும்பி வழியும்;
நிறை குடம் என்றுமே தளும்பாது!
நெல்லின் பதர்கள் காற்றில் பறக்கும்,
நெல் மணிகள் என்றுமே பறக்காது!
இறைவன் தந்தான் இரண்டு செவிகளை,
நிறைய நிறைய நாம் கேட்பதற்காக!
இறைவன் தந்தான் ஒரே ஒரு நாவினை,
குறைவாகப் பேச வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக.
அறிவிலிகளும் அறிவாளர்களே, தங்கள்
திருவாயைத் தாம் திறக்காத வரையிலும்.
கன்று முட்டி, முட்டிப் பால் வேண்டுவது போல,
நின்று கேட்பவர்களிடமே நாம் பேச வேண்டும்.
பால் பொங்கிய பின் வெளியே வழியும்,
மனம் பொங்கி நிறைந்த பின்னரே,
பால் போல் இனிய சொற்கள் வழிந்து,
மனம் குளிர வெளியில் வரவேண்டும்.
பயனில்லாச் சொல் பாராட்டக் கூடாது,
புறம், கோள், வம்புகள் பேசக்கூடாது;
முத்து உதிர்ந்தார்ப் போலப் பேசினால்,
உற்று கவனிப்பார்கள் மற்றவர்களும்.
பேசாத போதுதான் நினைவலைகள்,
தூசாக அடங்கிச் சற்று அமைதியுறும்;
பள்ளத்தை நோக்கி ஓடும் வெள்ளம் போல,
உள்ளத்தை நோக்கி ஓடத் தொடங்கும்.
உள்முகமாகச் சென்றால்தான் பல
உண்மைகள் நமக்குப் புரிய வரும்.
உண்மைகள் புரிந்த பின்னர், நமது
வண்மைகள் நமக்கு நன்கு புலப்படும்.
அதிகம் பேசுபவராக இல்லாமல்,
மிதமாகப் பேசுபவராக மாறுவோம்;
சக்தி வாய்ந்த நம் வார்த்தைகளை,
யுக்தியுடன் நாம் பயன்படுத்துவோம்.
வாழ்க வளமுடன்,
விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
SILENCE IS GOLDEN.
A half filled vessel spills over. A vessel completely filled does not spill over. An empty vessel makes the most noise. The chaff flies high in the blowing wind while the heavy grains fall down and stay on the ground.
God has given us two ears but only one tongue. So we should listen to more than what we talk! Even the dumbest fool can pass for an intellectual or even a philosopher…as long as he does not open his mouth and expose his ignorance.
We must talk only to persons who are willing to listen to us with interest-just like the cow responding to the stimulus of the calf be secreting more milk.
The milk kept on fire rises to the brim and then spills over. In the same way the mind must be filled with thoughts and only then they must come out through the mouth as words – to the satisfaction of the speaker as well as the listener.
We should not waste our time in useless talk, chit chat, bickering, back biting, complaining, commenting and comparing others. Less we speak, better the others will listen to it.
Only when we refrain from talking, our thought waves cease. The mind becomes free and starts exploring the inner self. Only when we travel inwards into our mind, the mysteries of the creation will be reveled to us. Our mind is mini universe in itself!
Let us not waste our words any more. Let us all become ‘Mitha Baashi’ like Lord Sri Rama and speak only limited and necessary words.
Words are powerful and sharp instruments. Let us learn to us them wisely.

fast for the day to pray for their spouse's good health and success. Probably in the south, we celebrate
'KAradaiyAn nombu' and 'Varalakshmi vratham', similar to this.

How can I ever forget..the first time with you ,
I was not sure what to do..or what to say,
I was told that it would be beautiful even though first time hurts,
I had no fear only apprehension..a subtle experience beyond words.
I craved for more..I knew you will always be there,
You came on easy and freely and it was still worth it,
My long romance with you lasted many years,
No one knew..only you and I and my occasional tears.
Many years passed by..I was feeling down,
I loved you but yet I had to give you up,
It was a bitter sweet affair..meaningful yet hazadorous,
What could I do ? I had no choice...
When I didn’t see you..I would tremble,
Go cold ,be so confused and almost depressed,
I needed you yet I had to control myself,
God..It was a torture..could I pull through I wondered.
Now when you are gone..I don’t miss you anymore,
I had memories deep in my tissues that cant be undone,
You still visit in dreams of others..not mine anymore,
So long Nicotine..I don’t need you anymore.
I wrote this for a friend when he decided to give up smoking and was feeling the withdrawal symptoms that come in the first 2 weeks of avoiding Nicotine.
I was not sure what to do..or what to say,

The reason may be because, it is has been a male dominated society!
But, now a days, many husbands cook for the wife and pamper her and pray for her welfare and health
on all days, with or without vrath being observed!
