[h=1]PM Modi 'appalled' by temple in his honour[/h]Feb 12, 2015

After hearing of the temple built in Rajkot in his honour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reacted, saying he was appalled by this development. I have seen the news about a temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking and aainst India's great traditions. Building such temples is not what our culture teaches us. Personally, it made me very sad. I would urge those doing it not to do it," the PM said.

He said that instead if people had time and resources, they should devote the same to fulfilling the dream of a Clean India. The temple, which is set to be inaugurated on Sunday, has an idol of Modi, which cost Rs 1.65 lakh to build.

This is from THE HINDU , the temple was built in 2006 but only after the drubbing in Delhi Elections Modi has become wise .

Temple dedicated to Modi 'shocks' him

http://www.thehindu.com/news/nationa...?homepage=true

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday morning urged people not to build temples in his name. Referring to media reports of an idol of his being installed in a temple in Rajkot, Gujarat, Mr. Modi tweeted: "Have seen the news about a temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking & against India's great tradition."

In a second tweet, he said: "Building such temples is not what our culture teaches us. Personally it made me very sad. Would urge those doing it not to do it."

Mr. Modi's idol is to be installed on Sunday. The temple is not new. It was built in 2006 and people till now had been worshipping photographs of Mr. Modi and an icon of Bharat Mata.

Mr. Modi's intervention comes in the wake of the criticism he had invited upon himself for donning a suit with his name embroidered all over it during the U. S. presidential visit last month. Many of his most ardent bhakts (fans) had found themselves at a loss for words in defending what his critics described as "megalomaniac" and "narcissist" tendencies.

Mr. Modi is not the first politician with a temple built in his name. In June last year – soon after the Lok Sabha elections — a temple was constructed in Mallial town of Karimnagar in Telangana in the name of Congress president Sonia Gandhi by the local unit as a mark of gratitude for the creation of the separate State.

Now a Bharat Mata temple in its place! Sensible decision!

[h=1]After furore, temple maker cancels inauguration [/h]February 12, 2015 11:40

After PM Modi said he was appalled and saddened that a temple had been built in his honour in Rajkot, Ramesh Undhad, the man behind the temple has decided to cancel the inauguration slated for Feb 16 and said that he will now build a Bharat Mata temple. "PM Modi remains in our heart, will take part in Clean India movement," Undhad said.

The following lines from an MGR Movie proved very true for Modi & Co during this Delhi Assembly elections and the same will hold true for Kejriwal and Co

Pathavi varum pothu
Panivum vara vendum thunivum vara vendum Thozha!
Paathai thavaramal
Panbu kurayamal Pazhagi vara vendum Thozha!

At last the culprit that acclerated the people's anger against Modi and BJP is soon tobe got rid off

13:01 Modi's special jacket to be auctioned, proceeds to go to NGO: The buzz in the corridors of power is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to auction his much-commented-upon bandhgala with 'Narendra Damodardas Modi' monogrammed all over the fabric as pinstripes.

Specially tailored for Modi's interactions with US President Barack Obama last month, the jacket received a fair bit of criticism in the media, which reached a crescendo following the BJP's Delhi electoral debacle when even party leaders spoke of the expensive jacket sending out a negative signal to the voters.

The suggestion to auction the piece came from a senior Union minister and is under active consideration, according to a highly placed source.

If accepted, the proceeds from the auction will be gifted to an NGO in Varanasi, with which gesture the government hopes to erase the negative impression created by it.

Too late, Modiji. Too late. The damage has been already done LOL

Building temples for individuals who are held in high esteem is not unusual or against our culture. As long as it is by individual or small group initiative, and done with private resources without offending others. There are mini/micro temples for Gandhi, Nehru, Indira, Sonia, kushbu, which have neither caught the attention of public or invited strong criticism. Many have built temples for parents, gurus and religious leaders. Ramakrishna, swaminarayan for example.

When sri ramanujacharya, left melkote in Karnataka for srirangam, his sishyas became very unhappy. He arranged to have his vigraha to be consecrated for their sake.
It is better for all of us to study our matam, culture, and scriptures without western filters to understand the degree of depth and tolerance we have for our culture and for the cultures which want and work for destroying ours.

While it is highly deplorable, are we not worshipping human beings as Gods? Is it a new
phenomenon?

Not according to Modi as per his statement below :

I have seen the news about a temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking and aginst India's great traditions. Building such temples is not what our culture teaches us. Personally, it made me very sad. I would urge those doing it not to do it," the PM said.

it is deplorable. If Modi temple existed since 2006, it is a news but I doubt. I remember in Tamil Nadu, a temple was built for actress Kushbhu. In UP there was a proposal to build a temple for Sonia Gandhi. somewhere there is a temple for Indira gandhi. I wonder we r going!! - srinivasan

i dont understand what is wrong in building a temple for modi? when a temple was built for khushbu, jayalalitha, annadurai, rajanikant etc, why not for modi? krishna says in gita, in whatsoever form you worship, your worship finally/eventually comes to me because i am the supreme personality of godhead. as per gita even if you pray to jesus, allah, mary, guru nanak, mahavir, buddha etc, the prayer is finally passed on to krishna. is not deifying heroes accepted in hinduism? hinduism is an all-embracing religion, more catholic than the roman catholicism. if someone wants to worship modi as god (or demi-god) why not let them?

......This is shocking and aginst India's great traditions. Building such temples is not what our culture teaches us. ...

why was it not shocking when churches were torched in gujarat in 1997-98? is vandalizing churches, demolishing babri-masjid India's great tradition? is it what is taught by our indian culture?
