Dear All,

One of my neighbour's father did some diamond business and was cheated (may be as a brahmin he is not knowing anything smart). He was first arrest and taken into custody. Then he was released on conditional bail. He just paid 40 lakhs due by selling the house. Still he has 40 lakhs more to pay. but he is not having money. he got absconded. The police came in mufty and arrested his son. Kindly pray for him as i know he is innocent and his wife is the sufferer.

Thanks&Regards

Who should we pray for?
The criminal? I am sure that the God who can provide salvation is also all-knowing, that god will surely ignore your prayers, and may punish you for invoking him for useless purpose.
According to the Karma Theory there will be results of every action.
So there is nothing to pray for.

Here the son never did any mistake ...why should a son should suffer for father's karma since he is not the one who did the business?

Dear Vignesh ji,

I feel you should not burden yourself with problems of others at this stage of life.

You have been open enough to admit that you are going through a difficult stage in life...please do not add any more pressure to yourself.

I hope by now you would have realized that God does not sit and direct or micromanage our lifes.

There is something called Karma and something called Free Will.

Why should anyone suffer or not is technically not in our hands and not within the scope of any logic.

As humans sometimes our hands are tied and we cant do much... that is when the mind starts to overtake and imagine some form of solution from God.

I am not an Atheist, but to a certain extent leaving the concept of God out of our lives actually helps to a great extent because when we rely on ourselves we go into action mode and try to solve our own problems.

But if one expects prayer to solve everything at times that translates as Inaction and the problem either never gets solved or the person becomes depressed and bitter with life and loses touch with reality.

So get real.

There is a saying "அவன் இன்றி ஓர் அணுவும் அசையாது" that is believed by theists. For someone who is not a theist there is a rational way to understand the meaning of this where Isvara is understood differently from a theist. I will not elaborate on this since I cannot do justice to the topic.

Regardless at your core whether you are theist or not (and the answer really does not matter) it is best to view that the universe/ multiverse as being in complete equilibrium with an order that is infallible.

The fact that there is thought arising in your mind to help your neighbor is also part of that order.

Now having said that, you have an experience of free will and the best you can do is to is to pray/meditate if that makes you feel better. Asking others to pray is relatively harmless but useless in my view. It can even annoy a few and is not worth it.

There are seemingly too many bad things going on in the world. In the word of Iraq some refugees are feeding their youngsters their own blood to keep their children alive. Imagine what a parent must feel not knowing if they will be alive to take care of their own children but the instinct was to keep the children alive by feeding their own blood.

Here is the news item of the above report.

Regardless of all these atrocities in the world the universe is in balance across space and time and it is not possible to know that unless we are omniscient and omnipotent.

Best is to observe and say your prayers knowing that it *may* have no effect on the outcome of whatever you are praying for.

Dear Vignesh,

Your question is logical and acceptable from a human and mundane point of view. But God is a Just God, who sometimes recompenses the iniquities of the fathers upon the descendants to the 3rd and 4th generation. God's ways are apparently unfathomable, beyond comprehension by humans, beyond grasp of human intelligence and logic.

Yet, God is LOVE personified, He is faithful, He will abundantly pardon, He is of infinite mercy, full of lovingkindness. When we sincerely repent for our iniquities, turn to God for forgiveness, He has already forgiven. To err is human, to forgive divine. Even if you err seven times and all the seven times humble yourself and seek God's forgiveness, He will hasten to forgive you seventy times seven.

You did the right thing by putting God first, turning to God first and then to men to Pray, to intercede. The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Ask and ye shall receive. On many occasions we do not receive because we do no ask. We do not ask because we apply our own limited intelligence and conclude we are unworthy of God's mercy and pardon. No iniquity is so unworthy that God will not pardon. It is easy to receive answer from God, right to expect God to perform miracles, turn adversity and sorrow into joy but God responds to Faith in Him and not to emotions nor to artificial gestures nor to grand eloquent language. He is nearest to and lives inside a broken heart and in one who is of a contrite spirit.

I appreciate your love for your friend, your empathy for your friend and your appeal to intercede for your friend. Interceding for your friend, sure I will do and you may rest assured, but the only mandate is Faith. For, what things so ever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have them. In all your ways acknowledge God and lean not on your own understanding. When a prayer/petition is made to God, and made in Faith, you are sure to receive the answer and the answer will be a guidance, an advice on what action to perform. Whatever God (not men) advises, guides, immediately obey, act (and do act) upon it, not doubting, not wavering, not vacillating. Trust in him as a child trusts his/her Father. Your friend's deliverance is imminent, is just a matter time.

May God Bless your friend and you.
