Why do we worship God when we know Karma ‘s effect can not be changed ?

I have a question here.
I do agree that we are here to learn lessons via karma.

But where to draw the line?

For eg just say a person is looking after a very toxic old parent who makes life unbearable for everyone.

Now...may be its the Karmic lesson for the person who is the caregiver for the toxic parent.
So the person has to tolerate everything.
But is accepting abuse from a toxic parent part of karmic lessons too?
Dear Renuka

Everything has a purpose to a nicety. That's the wonder of God's creation. What is necessary will be taken by the soul. But see the power of discrimination also happens. You take only what is required.

Makes Sense?

Renuka

The fun is reverse happens in many cases. The abuse is only taken. The teachings go over the top but God knows how to discipline them eventually.

TBS, Sir, I respect you, Just like you have the right to express your opinion, I have every right to express my opinion.. I Firmly Believe that God's Grace han reduce the effcet of Karma, as i am Experiencing ..

I am now 86, with Lots of Health Issues, I belive immensely in God's Grace; I Pray spending time and confident that i am alive this long only due to God's Grace.. I am a Devotee of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.. Only from His teachings i have quoted that' Medicine and Expiriry Date etc ..Sarava Sir, Whom i knew some 12 years back is definitely different..

Dear Sir

I agree with you. That's my take too. God's grace can reduce the effects of Karma without a doubt because if the main purpose of learning is served the job of karma is over.

Prayers do definitely help and in a weird way medicines also help!

Sri Sathya Sai Baba in one of His Discourses said, Just Like Mediines have Expiry date and after that day Medicines will not have the same effect, Like Wise GOD can postpone the Effect of Karma reduce the intensity of Karma's Effect.. Sir, I am in my Life Experiencing the Same by Paying , Reciting Narayaneeyam Slogams etc.. reading Spirital Write ups, and it helps me..

Sravna...i have another question.
Just say 2 people fell sick with a sorethroat.
Lets call them Mr A and Mr B.
Mr A is a very good person.
Mr B is a very bad person.
Both take the same meds and both recover.
The medicine worked for both.

Now..why Mantras dont work on all people.
I have seen people who have been praying and reciting mantras daily without fail yet no change in their behavior and in fact get worse with time?
All their negative qualities remain.
Doesnt a mantra behave like a medicine to cleanse us from "infections" of our mind?

Any reason why this happens?

There are two routes to mitigating pain and suffering. One is the external route that is working on the projection maya. When that is removed it works. Working on the projection maya works equally well for all. The other thing is the veiling maya. Setting right one self. That should be sincere. Just like fake medicines do not work well if you are not sincere it will not work. Prayers certainly do have effect if done sincerely. Faith is very important.

The con of medicine route is even though it works on all it is shallow compared to prayers which is more difficult to make work by all but when it works it works deeper. It is basically breadth vs depth.

What say you?

Sravna,
Medications work for specific diseases of the physical body.
Its not a con job.
Medicines are for the physical body and prayers work for the subtle body.
A combination of both works the best.

Many spiritual teachings emphasize the importance of controlling our desires. While this wisdom holds truth, we often misinterpret it to mean we must eliminate desires completely.

This misunderstanding can lead us down an impossible path—trying to suppress or destroy the very force that animates our spiritual journey.

Desire isn't the problem. Misdirected desire is.

The Nature of Desire
Imagine trying to eliminate your desire for water. You might succeed for a few hours, but eventually, your body's natural wisdom will override your mental effort.

This same principle applies to all desires: they are not meant to be eliminated but understood and directed.

To understand how desire works in our lives, let's look at its three expressions:

Unconscious Desire: Acting on impulse without awareness

Controlled Desire: Forcing ourselves to resist natural impulses

Conscious Desire: Understanding and directing our desires purposefully
  1. When you notice a strong desire, pause
  2. Ask: "What's the deeper longing beneath this desire?"
  3. Consider: "How can this energy serve a higher purpose?"

The Practical Path Forward

Instead of trying to control your desires, start with this simple practice:

Here's how to apply this understanding in life:

Instead of: Viewing desires as obstacles
Try this: See them as raw energy waiting to be directed.

Instead of: Trying to eliminate your desire for success
Try this: Channel that energy into serving others, you'll find success will follow at the right time.

Instead of: Fighting against material desires
Try this: Use them as signposts to understand your deeper longings.

The spiritual path isn't about becoming desireless—it's about allowing our desires to mature into their highest expression.
